Solaire

Also End is Night is absolutely sublime Jawa, providing similar thrills and feelings of accomplishment to Meat Boy while differentiating itself enough in mechanics + structure.

Plus the main character's voiced by Rich Evans!

I'd hoped that you'd enjoy it but I didn't want to play up my enthusiasm too much in case you didn't! It's a cool, stylish wee platformer... I'm glad that you like it :D .

D'aww thank you kindly! Quickfire platformers seem to be among my favourite genres to play on Switch between this, Celeste, Slime-san, 10 Second Run and of course VVVVV

How does the difficulty of TEIN compare to Celeste? Despite not being an amazing platform game, I completed the core game without ever feeling frustrated. I think this was largely due to the quick restarts and the feeling of slowly getting better at the game through repetition (the purest form of grinding).

Would this apply to TEIN also? I have never played SMB.

So far it's been challenging but the good kind of challenging for me, if you got through Celeste fine I reckon you'd be okay here. Have heard it gets crazy difficult later but I imagine the learning curve accommodates for that somewhat

Though bear in mind I think Celeste is an amazing platform game so may be some differences in perspective :p

Thanks for the reply. I really liked Celeste too, but it was my first hardcore platformer, so I'm not sure if my enjoyment of it was a one off, or if I will have the same love for other games of that nature. At 5 quid I guess it's not really a big gamble...

Does this mean you didn't like Celeste that much, or did you mean to say you aren't good at platformers?

Ooops, i can understand the comment made by Jazzem now

What i meant to say was that i am not amazingly good at platform games. But i loved Celeste. And (to bring it full circle), the reason i loved Celeste despite the difficulty level was due to the feeling of gradual improvement in ones skill, and the ultra quick respawn (making it almost hypnotic when combined with the amazing soundtrack).

So i was interested in whether The End Is Nigh offers these qualities also.

Thanks for picking me up on that Orange ;)

Lots of people have been going on about Overcooked. Never heard of it so I watched a video, two blokes getting very excited over putting some food on a plate for a giant meatball.

What am I missing?

They aren't your friends and you aren't getting unreasonably angry at them

It's very simple to play, yet very challenging in terms of difficulty. It gets local co-op about spot-on in that you need to shout directions at each other/agree roles, etc. Yet the surprises it throws up and variety in the challenges makes it quite frustrating, albeit in a good way.

I can't imagine it'd be any good online (esp without chat) as you really need that sensation of becoming impossibly angry with someone you love dearly.

Awkward. You still have two chefs to control, so it's a bit complex to pick up and play (when you start one chef off doing an action (cooking/chopping/etc) you can press a button to change to the other chef and the first chef will continue to chop). It's very much designed for multiplayer, so if you don't see the appeal from watching others play it you probably won't enjoy playing it on your own.

Boring and fiddly as you have to control two characters at once
