Lovely little game. Feels easy at the moment so I'm waiting for a huge difficulty spike soon, but I'm loving it so far.

Recommended if you like tower defence/strategy-lite types of games.

I bought it at release. It's an interesting game and looks lovely but I think it lacks variety. The upgrade paths for your troops are too small to really allow much customisation and they're also hard to get. It is fun though, watching your archers rain down death from higher ground looks awesome.

I really enjoyed Runner 2 on the U, kaza, and I was keen on the idea of a new game in the series... but, for me, it just didn't look as attractive. The graphics are technically better but stylistically less distinct; whilst the pseudo 3D aspects seem to distract from the essentially simple gameplay.

Having said that... I haven't actually played it and so I'm open to being enlightened by folk who have :-) .

I also have it and I agree with the lack of variety. It's a good game, but it really doesn't suit the roguelike structure. It's very disheartening to die and then have to start the entire game over when each run takes a couple of hours and takes a long time to get going. Rather than a smooth difficulty curve, you end up playing through levels far too easy for you over and over just to get a couple of goes at the level you want to be playing at, at which point you die and have to start again.

It's a shame because it's otherwise small but perfectly formed as a strategy-lite title. Will be interesting to see Poser's opinion after the first couple of runs as I feel like I was where he is during my first playthrough.

It seems most people would agree with that view, but alas only Runner 3 is available on the Switch. I wont have a basis for comparison, so hopefully it will be good fun in its own right. I love rhythm games anyway, and although this isn't strictly from that genre, it would appear to do that "thing" where you end up in a somewhat hypnotic state, almost having to force yourself not to think too much (tricky in itself when you think about it), or it will all fall apart.

OK, that's interesting... I've not actually died yet, so are you saying you have to start COMPLETELY from scratch if you do?!

Holy gooseberry fool

I wonder if they'll update/design that out at some point.

I do very much like it at the moment - I wish I was playing it right now - but will report back after the first time I've died and let you know if my feelings have changed.

Don't want to put a downer on it, as I said it is a very nice game otherwise. It's just a victim of the make-it-a-roguelike trend.

Talking of roguelikes but with carried over progression, I got Moonlighter last night. Not far enough in to give it a full evaluation, but it did come with an actual colour manual, so colour me impressed!

Finally got Splatoon 2 and its fantastic fun, certainly the best multiplayer game on Switch, even if the game kinda feels like Splatoon 1.5.

Tried to play Salmon Run today and it seems it's still a timed event, which sucks.

I stopped playing because I couldn't play Salmon Run :(

It's still a baffling decision

Few games announced as coming to Switch today

Abzu
Ms Splosion Man (Yes, the old 360 game!)

Olli Olli devs are expected to officially announce that both Olli Olli games are heading to Switch as well

Now Abzu is an intriguing one, when I saw it release on PS4 I got very Endless Ocean vibes from it (despite never having played it) as a really relaxing game to play, might keep an eye on that one :)

I heard it's more like Journey in its gamestyle than Endless Ocean.

The team that made Abzu is made up of people who worked on Journey.

I played Abzu on the PS4 and it is very much a relaxing experience. It’s a great game to play in between big releases when you want something that’s not overly taxing and you can just chill out with.

I really wish Journey could come to Switch, shame it’s a Sony exclusive

I died last night.

Only 36% through, but I got really cocky/greedy and decided to split my guys across two islands in one turn. Huge mistake, I got absolutely rinsed.

At the moment, I'm happy to start again and take more care next time - I also see it that I've learned lessons about upgrades, etc. However, I do agree that starting over will begin to grate after a while. Even a save point every five turns would help a lot.

I definitely did better on my second run as I knew more I needed to balance getting additional units and upgrading them against getting items, which I pretty much ignored on my first playthrough but they turn out to be super useful!

I may have oversubscribed the Switch with my Christmas present plans this year.

So far, I've bought:

- Taiko no Tatsujin (with drum) and Super Mario Party (with joy cons) for the family

- Smash Bros Ultimate for my son (possibly the only person who was buzzing at the prospect of another 40 minute Nintendo Direct about it)

- Pokemon Let's Go Eevee for my eldest daughter

- Diablo 3 for myself and

- nothing for my youngest or my wife because I had to draw the line somewhere.

Now I'm trying to level up my parenting and planning skills to avoid any conflicts beforehand, but might just take the easier option and buy another Switch.

Crikey, NBK. It sounds like you're only moments away from living a lifestyle which involves the family clambering up onto your roof and having a party :toot: .
