I think Nintendo may have to work hard to get most users to sign up. Sure, it's "only" £18... but you seem to get very little for that money. Users who have already played on the console for nearly eighteen months may not find the new charge to be very attractive when, until September, they have been able to play games like Kart, Rocket League and Splatoon online for "free".

I have to say that I feel a little begrudging about it... yeah, it's not a huge amount, but it seems like "money for nothing" for Nintendo; more so when their online service is flakier than other console online services and the chat function is so weak.

Tl;dr I may be a rebel and hold off from the Online subscription. therearedozensofus.gif etc.

Gotta remember it's got less features but it's significantly cheaper.

I hope it doesn't affect leaderboards. It'll probably put an end to my very occasional Infinite Minigolf-ing too :(

I don't play online anywhere near enough to justify paying for it, sadly. Same goes for PS+, or it would if I hadn't already stacked a further 18 months' worth of membership.

Thing is, the only value I have in Mario Kart (for example) is the online, so it's a bit annoying that that would be taken away from me.

I really don't want to see Nintendo falling back on that argument; I'd rather pay more for something desirable rather than spend a little on something a bit pony.

It's missing some very basic functionality that even the first Xbox had 15 years ago though.

Less features is expected but they're below the bare minimum at the moment.

I don't play online so the only value is cloud saving.

Same here. I don't really take my Switch anywhere so its probably a bit unnecessary for me. But then you hear reports of them just going horribly wrong for seemingly no reason, so im not sure whether i will get it for the peace of mind, or keep procrastinating until mine does go wrong and then its too late. Its almost certainly the second option tbh.

I play little online beyond MK Mondays and the occasional Rocket League on here but I'm happy with what Nintendo are offering for the price.

Undoubtedly it could be better and is missing lots compared to the competitors (albeit with the caveat that they charge significantly more) so I understand why some would be disappointed.

Doubt I'll even bother with the subscription. I haven't played any online Switch games since last year when Splatoon 2 came out and that's full of cheating scum now.

I expect I'll subscribe, even though I don't want to and it's likely rubbish, just to be able to play online occasionally

I'll more than likely subscribe. The cloud saves are good (but still not sure why we actually have to pay for them as I believe the others offer them for free?), I expect I'll be using Pokémon Let's Go online features a bit though and with it coming out after the service launches you'll obviously need it and eventually for Pokémon bank down the line as well.

I do hope it has more to offer in the future though as in general it seems a bit lacking.

Sony doesn't offer free cloud saves (need PS+), but you can transfer saves through USB etc. I would settle for being able to save to micro SD on Switch and then transferring onto PC as a manual backing up solution (i believe you can do this on 3DS), but even this option is not available on Switch, so cloud save really is the only security available...

Ah I thought they offered them for free! Still a physical solution of saving saves to the SD card would be better then feeling you have to pay just to have cloud saves.

It's probably not going to happen but it might be and that's enough for me at this moment.

That's pretty much my thinking as well, Hypes, as I'll still want to Kart, Rocket and Splat.

I have zero interest in playing online but if the retro game offerings are decent I might be tempted. They probably wont be though and I wont bother with it, well see though.

Dude, don't sully the gloriousness of Endless Ocean with those other Wii 'classics'. It's a stone cold 10/10 and it's about time we got EO3.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, EO was ace. And I'd totally forgotten that there was an EO 2! I think it arrived pretty late on in the Wii's shelf life and I never found a reasonably priced copy.

I remember using the custom music feature on Endless Ocean to play to the Mario 64 Dire Dire Docks theme
