Smash focused Direct on Wednesday (because we didn't see enough of it at E3). Wonder if they'll finally be giving us further details on their online subscription service.

What’s the problem been thus far? Incidentally I’ll also be buying it: it’s my second time. Hoping the thirty billion times you fight Orochi won’t irritate me too much.

Don’t do this to me, I don’t have tiiiiiiiime... sigh. How does it compare to Hollow and Owlboy?

Do I buy Overcooked 2 - y/n?

Never managed to finish the first game :shifty: Is this going to be more of the same? Was hoping the throw will make the stages that split your chefs up a little easier...

I'm playing Iconoclasts too. Not played either of those but it's probably better. Top, top drawer.

For £20, absolutely.

I never finished the first one either (those later levels are bullshit), and this one is pretty much the same, but the new level gimmicks and the throw mechanic keeps it fresh enough to pick up again.

It's downloading now :shifty: For some reason I can still pre-order it even though it says it's out today, so I've got the Too Many Cooks pack too! Hype.

It's very puzzle oriented compared to Hollow Knight being combat focused. Very good puzzles too.

Overcooked 2 says it comes out today in the eShop but it won't let me play it. Liars! :x

I'm guessing that Overcooked 2 is still best played with 4 players?

Tried to play it just two player and it was on the cusp of being unenjoyable...

Yeah, this is what I've just noticed. First eshop game I've pre-ordered, so I'm not sure what the usual behaviour is. Google seems to suggest it'll be available from noon-ish?

If you weren't digging it in two player I'm not sure four player will be enough to change your mind, but it is better yes.

I held off Iconoclasts on Vita as I hoped it would come to Switch, but I'm going to finish Owlboy and play Yoku's island express first.

Unfortunately I am just wasting all my gaming time messing about in Go Vacation though

I think I would prefer it with more players, it just frustrating that it's deliberately designed for 4 people and it doesn't alter based on fewer players...

Takes the fun off in a way I guess? Hard to explain it in words really...

I thought it did adjust the star cutoffs depending on how many people you had playing? It's been a while since I've played it but I'm sure we tried it with two people controlling two chefs each and you needed like 50/60 more stars for three stars. It's still absolutely solid, but I don't think it'll get easier with more people

Is Go Vacation any good? They've been advertising it to my girlfriend and now she's very keen on it. The trailer makes it look fun but the reviews I've seen seem to say all the minigames are quite shallow so there isn't really much to it.

The minigames are all very simple and shallow, and are of varying levels of fun. I tend to enjoy the races even though they are trivial to come first in, and then most everything else I haven't gone back to after trying once.

What has me hooked is the free roam/exploration side of the game. You can just wander about the resorts either aimlessly or looking specifically for things - there are secret areas, 7 treasure chests to find in each resort, you have a photo album to fill out by finding and photographing different species of animals, balloons scattered about that give points when collected, and photo locations to visit. There is stuff to find that doesn't even unlock or earn anything but is fun regardless, like putting the head back on a snowman and getting rewarded with fireworks.

It's a game that's both shallow and packed full of little details then. You could play the minigames and think "these are just unpolished and easy wii sports games" and be done with it, or you can be weirdly into free-form exploration games like I am and have a ton of fun wandering around a world clearly designed for young children.

What really does it for me is that I love free-roam snowboarding and skiing (I'm a big fan of SSX and Steep), and the snow resort in Go Vacation gives me more of that. I can't really break that down mechanically or give a clear explanation for why I like it, but I find it very relaxing to zone out and meander down a mountain.

If I were to compare it with other games, it'd be Lego Island x Wii Sports Resort.

Goddamn that last line pretty much sold it. Lego Island was like my favourite game as a kid

Thanks for the detailed response, too! Might have to give it a go, then!
