There's also a good discount on The Flame in the Flood which is a similar title. Has anyone played either or both of these? Any suggestions as to which is better?

What does this mean? NES only? They are so bad at explaining things. They need to come out and say exactly what’s happening!

Flame in the flood is good. Never played smoke and sacrifice. Flame in the flood is similar to don’t starve if you’ve played that, but FITF is much better. It’s a cool game and the soundtrack is amazing. Very very hard though.

Thats the most clear they have been, you get online play, cloud saves and NES games. That is exactly whats happening.

Probably.

I’m not sure I would say they’ve been clear. Reggie suggested it replaced the VC, but this makes it sound like there’s only going to be NES games full stop. They could really do with clarifying if that’s the case or if the plans are to expand it.
Also, who ever said they think NES games are gooseberry fool. I agree in about 90% of cases!

For me it's more that they ALWAYS launch VC with NES. I have many ways of playing NES Mario, why not launch with N64 for a change? Or GameCube? The hardware can do it because the shield TV is the same inside (well it's slightly better) and it runs dolphin.
NES is old tat.

They might expand it, they might not but what difference does that make? If the service is appealing to you then get it, if its not then save your money. Why does it matter if they might expand it later? Make the decision on whether or not to get it based on what it offers right now.

Haha, this is the worst. I’m sorry for wanting to get excited about a games service and posting about it on a gaming forum.
I’d quite like to know whether or not the service which I would commit to for a year will be expanded upon or otherwise. That would affect plonking down an investment.
It’s not hard for Nintendo to be clear what their plans are, especially given how close it is to launch.
