I thought that required Game Pass Ultimate.

At this rate, I’ll likely just wait until I get a Steam Deck and emulate all the stuff I want

How is Dolphin these days? I’m guessing people have modded Wii games to have standard controller support?

Yes, good point, Game Pass also has a cheaper tier for those who don’t want Xbox Live. But if you want these N64 and MD games, you have to pay for Nintendo’s online service, even if you don’t want it.

Being Nintendo probably nothing.

I may be the only one but this seems like a piss take, Nintendo Online is a piss poor offering and adding more as an extra cost tier is Nintendo just laughing at everyone.

I can see it being better if you play the games more but it's games they have rinsed a thousand times over and now want to charge monthly for, it should need a damn upgrade.

So you’re of the opinion that they said there’d be more without actually meaning it?

I have little faith in them, they say more and so there will something but I bet it will be gooseberry fool.

Winback is quite an odd choice, especially to launch with.

I briefly had it back in the day - it was fine. I don't have it anymore so I must have part ex'd it after. I've barely even thought about it since then.

Phantasy Star IV instantly becomes the best JRPG on the Switch.

Chances are I’ll be getting the higher tier for this, unless they decide to price it ridiculously higher than the standard subscription cost, hopefully it’ll be around the £25 mark.

I'm pretty sure I have Winback boxed in a cupboard and I think it's a really bizare choice for a starting point.

No, the 3DS versions that use touch screen controls that would need upscaling from 240p and changed HUDs to fit all on one screen as opposed to 2 are not the versions that will be available as part of the Nintendo 64 expansion pass that show the N64 boxarts.

Pricing comes down to how they plan to handle NSO in the future

Standard tier - £17.99
Expansion Pack 1 - £27.99 (N64, Megadrive, GB/GBC)
Expansion Pack 3 - £37.99 (GameCube, GBA)

Could do something like that, they can’t really go too expensive with the subscription price though so probably £47.99 would be the ceiling.

It's already too expensive. Not paying to play 30 year old games.

Personally I'm really hyped for this.
- 4 player non-local mario kart 64
- Banjo Kazooie coming - Every direct I've seen I always hope 'the one more thing' is Rare Replay because of the Rare N64 games - If Banjo is coming - are the other Rare games coming? Diddy Kong Racing
- You can get Mega Drive games multiple other ways but theres already a couple of not-so readily available games including a Capcom game - I get the feeling the library of Genesis games wont be as slowly drip-fed as the Nintendo games so I think its a decent inclusion

Would the GameCube actually be a feasible one to include? I’m guessing the games are all downloaded as part of the app? So with the GameCube games the size might start to become a little too big so I’d guess they’d have to let players download and delete games as they wish rather than have them all stored on there at once.

This!! It's just a shame somany will buy it proving yet again to Nintendo that they can continually take the pass and people will lap it up.

Glad you're excited for it!

Hopefully you have a lot of fun replaying a lot of those classics, and many of them really are classics for sure.

Yeah this is the only thing, I do wonder if maybe we will see GC and Wii stuff sold as HD remasters in which case N64 would be the last Ninty home console they add.

Would be cool if they add Sega Saturn

Wii games would be verging on too big in my opinion, unless like my suggestion for a GameCube tier you basically have to download any games you want to play rather than just have them all in the app ready to go. I’d happily see GameCube games on there as they’d have to put TTYD on there surely? I mean I can live in hope
