Has anyone bother with GBA games on Wii U? I'm interested in buying some but just wondered if they looked OK on the gamepad? Some of screens look a bit rough

They are a little pixelated because the gamepad screen is a bit bigger than the original, but perfectly playable.

Absolutely.

I just played through Metroid: Zero Mission on it last week.

The Wii Street U app will stop working on 31 March:

Nintendo UK wrote:Discontinuation of Wii Street U powered by Google

We would like to remind Wii U owners that as previously announced, the Wii Street U powered by Google service will be discontinued on March 31st 2016, at 23:59 local time. Once the service is discontinued, this software will not be usable.

To prepare for this, the software will be removed from Nintendo eShop at 23:59 local time on January 31st 2016. Users who have already purchased the software will be able to re-download it until 23:59 local time on March 31st 2016.

We apologise to those of you currently using this service, and we ask for your understanding as we focus our resources in other areas.

This was a pretty cool service; you could move the Gamepad around to change your view on Google Streetview. Admittedly I haven't used it for a while, but it's a shame that it's ending. It's starting to feel like the U is being moved into the backwaters :-(.

Didn't it have to be paid for?

And nothing of value was lost.

It was free for the first month or so before being a a paid app. I quite liked it - it was a cool use of the Gamepad as you held it in front of you and just turned around to change your viewpoint.

In fact, now I think about it, it served as an early version of NintendoVR 8-) .

Jawa confirms it. NintendoVR to be two gamepads duct taped together.

So... this thread is rushing towards the 250-page limit. Lets build the future!

Check #1

Gecko, please could you confirm that we'll need to end this thread around the 250 page mark and create a new one?

Check #2
I know that the U scene is going to be rather overtaken by NX news as the year progresses. Should we still have a U-dedicated thread? Does Club U still resonate with you?

Check #3
If we do want to continue with a U thread, are you happy for me to setup the new one? Or is someone else keen to take it to another dimension?

We may as well keep a Wii U thread around until we stop posting in it, which could even be after the NX launches as not everyone will jump in immediately. I'm happy for you to keep running the threads, jawa, as long as you're happy to do so.

To be honest I haven't corroborated the 250 page rule with actual data yet so that might change. But it would still be good to have a fresh OP either way and please don't use a weird thread title as it'll make a useless URL. That's the main reason the rule exists, so that the 1st page stays relevant over often many years.

I can't overstate how powerful a relevant URL/thread title is for attracting new users - even if they don't sign up, it brings in a little ad revenue for the server I pay for.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

That's ace - thanks, Gecko. If it's okay with you, I will stick with the current name format of (something like) Nintendo Wii U [CHAT] - Club U. I've got some time this afternoon so I'll start work on the new thread.
