Trying to play Mario Kart 8, and it always crashes before I've managed to complete a single race. Every time. Always the same error code (170-0001). Emailed Nintendo to ask if they know what it's about, but it looks like this might be going back to Music Magpie. Glad I bought it from a "proper" store and not a randomer on ebay now...

Reset it to factory settings earlier, and it's still doing it. Maybe even worse, now. I used to maybe manage to finish a lap, now I can't even get into first place before it dies!

Good job you're not running pirated games o.....oh

Mazza Kazza is a disc though :(

Nintendo say it's a problem with the console, so I'll have to send it back to be replaced/refunded. Disappointing. I was enjoying Wind Waker HD. Guessing because it's Nintendo I'm going to lose my save, too :fp: When I factory reset the console it made a big point about how save games would be unusable going forwards. It's a fun console but Nintendo are shockingly thick about some things still. When I was googling for advice I found a thread complaining that you can't back saves up on the Switch, so they're obviously not learning.

You can actually back up save data to usb. I've done it with several games, I was moving stuff to a usb stick as a temp solution and when I got a hard disk sorted I just left them on there as backup. That was for splatoon on disk, there was definitely a save data file. Although maybe it just won't work if I try to use it again, I have no idea.

Problem is, they'll be able to tell you've put homebrew etc on it once they receive it and will probably be thrown straight back at you.

What if it already had homebrew on when it they had it in the first place? It's a pre-owned console and it doesn't exactly come with a service history. If the thing's been reset to factory settings how can they still tell what it's had done to it?

Also how would music magpie be able to know what's been done to the console?

Music Magpie gave me a refund for the console no trouble, then I noticed their official site were doing 10% off consoles, so I got another refurbished Wii U from there that actually came with a proper box.

Doesn't crash playing Mario Kart, so finger's crossed this console is a decent one! Almost finished Dragon Roost Island on Wind Waker HD  It's a weird looking game in places, though. Like they forgot it was meant to be cel-shaded so in certain lighting you can tell Link is 3D.

I've played Super Mario 3D World with one of my nephews... and it was excellent fun! I've had the game since launch but not played it. We tried out two-player mode and worked through the first world. Defeating Bowser in his car was just awesome :) .

Meanwhile, it appears that tinypic must be having a clear-out of some older images as my artwok from the opening post no longer appears :-( . But... don't worry! I still have a copy of the original artwork, so I can paste it back in again. Or... I *may* create Club U Chat IV! Watch this space!

I was probably a little ambitious to think that creating a new Chat IV thread would revitalise our Club U chat! So... I've updated the opening post of this Chat III thread with some fresh artwork instead. Wii U lives!

The worst decision Nintendo have ever made. Where's Miiverse on the Switch? :x Did the Miiverse stage make it into Smash Ultimate, considering "Everyone's Here"?

I really miss Miiverse. I had some pals on there... folk that I used to enjoy chatting, drawing and playing games with. I am still in "contact" with a few of them on Switch but all we can do is look at each other's avatar image rather than actually communicate :( . But, hey, I smile when I think of some stuff from Miiverse when it was at its peak popularity:

> Discovering different artists and enjoying their work!
> Being amazed at how some highly skilled people produced art that looked like it had been scanned in
> Keeping up to date on Nintendo news via Folkloners news posts
> Text chatting with people about drawing and gaming
> Making and receiving nice comments on posts
> Watching World Cup 2014 whilst looking at, and posting, silly little drawings related to the matches! Great fun!
> Creating a picture griping about there being no community area for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct... and then one appeared :toot:
> And, of course, producing a complete screenshot-based record of my journey through Sonic Boom ( :dread: )... that some folk posted nice comments about

I've said it before, but miiverse was completely crippled by slow loading times, to the point where I only tried using it a handful of times to comment on mario maker levels. I'll take the Switch's speedy interface over that loading screen any day. If anything similar returns it needs to be fast.

One for the completists - there's another physical WiiU game being released shortly:

No idea what it'll be quite yet, but it'll probably be released over the next two or three weeks.

God forbid we have some patience.

This isn't a go at you, OR, I've just seen this comment all over; about how the Wii U was so slow. I honestly don't know what people are talking about. The loading times were fine, just have some patience.

Come on, miiverse was dog slow to load up. The games (did it have any?) Loaded quickly, but miiverse took long enough to put many off using it.
