Crumbs! That is quite... something! How's it play, Errkal?

Only had a quick go but thumb sticks feel really good, to jerkiness and stuff, triggers feel really nice too.

I need to restart Zelda again though as I can't remember when I was doing last time I played and stuff and im not mega far anyways.

Yes well when the other option is paying some banana split £100 for an official one you make do.

Also I can't remember the last time I used a dpad enough to give a gooseberry fool about it, it's like this whole OMG ITS NOT 60 FPS for the most it just plain doesn't matter.

I have that too! Never really use it myself, but for a P2 controller it's fine (P3/4 get the control pad attachments for wiimotes, they cut out all of the time).

Third party controllers are infinitely better these days than yesteryear:

Anyone know the best place to pick up a Wii U now (is anyone selling one? :shifty: )? Only just realised with Nintendont you can play Gamecube/Wii and Wii U games all on the same console. Would love to get one now I've gone from a PC to a laptop so Dolphin isn't really an option any more...

My local store had a legit pro controller for £26 so it really isn't that bad if you look around.

Frank I would go to a trade in place of whatever kind, the second hand value really isn't enough to inflate by all that much, probably about £80-100, there are probably also plenty of people getting shot of them on Facebook marketplace etc.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Thanks GG, picked up a "refurbished" one from Music Magpie in the end, should be here tomorrow!

Has anyone here jailbroken the Wii U itself, or does everyone just use the homebrew channel on the vWii for emulation and playing from backups?

^ Yeah, I have. It in turn made the adding the homebrew channel to the vWii easier. In fact it may be a prerequisite to doing that. Can't remember.

That said, while Wii U homebrew is good, emulation for the most part is left to vWii. I guess there wasn't too much motivation to develop it since you can just use vWii homebrew (though there are so emulators made specifically for Wii U).

It's possible to get Gamecube and other retro games you normally wouldn't have on Wii U added as Wii U channels too.

Thanks for the quick response! Had a bit of a play with it over the weekend, got the homebrew channel on the vWii and backed up basically every disc game we've got :slol: Seems pretty good so far! Had a couple of hangs with Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I'm wondering if that might be because of the Hard Drive I'm using (it's a portable one, and I don't have a Y-splitter. I've turned off the auto-sleep thing, but it still has a few troubles).

Are there any decent guides to follow for jailbreaking the Wii U part? :shifty: Seems a little more involved than the Wii jailbreak. I was reading something that seemed to be saying you don't need custom firmware to run games from backups, but that doesn't seem right.

EDIT: Also has anyone had any luck getting Nintendo to transfer an NNID from one console to another? Linked my NNID with my account on my brother's console, and now I want to link it to mine (or, more sensibly, transfer the one account over) and Nintendo are typical Nintendo and IT IS NOT POSSIBLE

It was a while back but this looks pretty much like the guide I followed: https://www.reddit.com/r/WiiUHacks/comm ... wii_u_552/

Sounds right from a quick skim of it, anyway. As it says you need a legit copy of a DS VC game. Brain Training is recommended since it's cheap, but I already had a couple of DS games so I just used my copy of SM64. And the browser exploit thing can indeed take a few tries.

As for not needing custom firmware to run backups, that's true, but you'll need homebrew to install them on your Wii U. After that you can go straight to playing the games from the Wii U channel without needing to boot up custom firmware first. You should only need to run CFW (like Haxchii or Mocha) for stuff like mods and DLC that's not downloaded through the eshop.

Thanks! That seems a lot easier to read than the other one I was looking at!

Got through the browser exploit on my first try, but apparently the game I bought (Picross 3D) isn't compatible with the Haxchi install :slol: Whoops.

EDIT: Third time's the charm. Downloaded Big Brain Academy and installed it over that instead.

Oh dear.

Trying to play Mario Kart 8, and it always crashes before I've managed to complete a single race. Every time. Always the same error code (170-0001). Emailed Nintendo to ask if they know what it's about, but it looks like this might be going back to Music Magpie. Glad I bought it from a "proper" store and not a randomer on ebay now...

Reset it to factory settings earlier, and it's still doing it. Maybe even worse, now. I used to maybe manage to finish a lap, now I can't even get into first place before it dies!

Find it more comfortable than the Gamepad for Mario Kart.

I'm not sure I ever will, I know I won't play enough to justify the cost and I just can't see the switch lasting very long as tablets and stuff just don't live that long compared to a proper console.
