My favourite line. That, along with the spiel at the end about calling people mummy strawberry floater all the time, except for the one guy who probably has strawberry floated his mother

Choose a game, ready to play, oh its not a multiplayer one, oh well lets choose another, wait it doesn't tell you it's multiplayer or not unless you use the quick select menu. OK then. Select Miis, oh you need a motion plus wiimote, ffs, unplug that one and get my motion plus one. Game is really unintuitive so we have to sit through 5 mins of tutorials just to figure out how to have one game. Change to another game, oh now you have to take the nunchuck out, ok then. Hold the remote like this and now sit though another tutorial because its not clear how the game works. Wave the gamepad around like a fool instead of just use the stick because nintendo and strawberry floating motion controls. Change to another game, hold the remote sideways now. Why cant i just use it with the nunchuck to move? BECAUSE strawberry floating strawberry float YOU USE IT SIDEWAYS FOR NO REASON, now watch a boring tutorial again because the game makes no sense otherwise. Oh and the gamepad controls 2 characters now for no real reason which makes it unbalanced in favour of player 1 so its no fun. All the other decent games are single player only so you just have to take turns.

What a load of shite that game is :fp: Compare that with wii sports.

"oh its tennis, i swing it then" Done.

Awful awful game.

Wow, I can't believe how much your experience with that differs to mine. I had a gaming night with friends the weekend after Wii U launched and 8 of us took it in turns playing the various games all night, had an absolute blast and never found it anything less than intuitive and straightforward to use. Admittedly I knew of the requirements in advance so I had all the controllers ready but nothing really required much explanation for any of us. I do faintly recollect having to sit through a couple of tutorials but that was just the one time.

Even now, every time I have a group of friends round Nintendoland gets an outing, we play either the Mario chase, Animal Crossing sweet day or Luigis Mansion game and it always makes for an amazing time. I have friends who don't play or even particularly like Nintendo stuff at all and always ask to play that when they're round. For me its the best local multiplayer experience since Goldeneye 64!

Prefer it over Wii Sports any day, that was fun for the first few weeks but had no lasting appeal at all, Nintendoland on the other hand will undoubtedly remain a mainstay when I have friends over for many years to come.

It sounds like wii play U would have been better as that is dead simple and all the games are multiplayer.

Btw Nintendo have changed the zelda offer to be used as many times as you want until 9th February.

what possessed you to play anything other than Mario Chase

It's one of the best, simplest and most intuitive local multiplayer games ever made

The donkey Kong game is indeed great, but it's single player only. Luigis mansion is a great game but is weighed heavily in favour of the ghost in 2 player. The rest are a strawberry floating mess.

I'm gonna be looking after my two eldest nephews tomorrow (they're 11 and 8). The day is set for a raft of Wii and Wii U action :toot: .

Was using my Wii U a lot over the weekend and experienced a lot of gamepad connection issues, even when really close to the TV. I've moved it to make way for the Switch so I'm hoping its just something causing interference in the new location. I'd be gutted if my U was on its way out :(

It is probably 5GHz interference because it actually uses an ad-hoc wireless network to send the data at a few hundred Mbps. Try changing your router's wireless channel if it is 5GHz, if not, it's your neighbours' fault.

It went well... we played Rayman Origins and Wii Party on the Wii, plus a bit of Nintendo Land (Mario Chase, Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing Fruit) on the U.

Wii Party is surprisingly good as a multi-player game; loads of simple events and some of them are excellent fun!

Thanks for that! Could well be neighbours as I've used the same 5GHZ frequency on my router for years and never had the issue before with the Wii U, managed to play tonight though without issues at least.

Yeah, sadly it'll only become more of an issue as routers adopt 5Ghz as standard. And then go back to 2.4GHz... Or some other radio band. It's quickly filling up.

Best bet is to turn the Wii u on so the pad is live, then reboot your wifi router, the wifi router will then pick a channel not being used by the u as the u I believe uses the same channel all the time.

I had to do it to stop interference between the u and my chromecasts.

I'll give that a go, I wonder if booting from the quick start menu is an issue as well as I've read that has caused issues for people in the past. Will have a play around over the weekend and see what I can do. Hoping to play through most of my remaining Wii U games when I'm off next week so it's a problem I could do without!

Harvest Moon 64 is out on the VC this week. NTSC version since it was never originally released in Europe.

It's so weird that we've had such a great crop of Virtual console games popping up lately, first those TurboGrafx games and now Harvest Moon 64 and Ogre Battle 64, neither of which got PAL releases.

Seems so strange to put the effort into porting them over to a dead console and one where I'd imagine virtual console sales are at an all time low while everyone awaits Switch VC news. The optimist in me wants to think that its because Switch will share the basic virtual console infrastructure and they will be able to move them straight over to that virtual console.

I really want to buy Harvest Moon but I'm letting a friend borrow my Wii U so she can get Zelda. I'll probably buy it for the Switch when it eventually comes out on that in 3-4 years thanks to the usual slow trickle of VC releases.
