Yeah, it's the most likely scenario isn't it. If they could just plan ahead and have all the 3DS/Wii U virtual console stuff on the Switch on day one (except perhaps the DS stuff as I'm not sure how well that would work!) it would be incredible, what a library the system would have from the go. Like you say though, Nintendo will no doubt do their usual slow trickle of games.

Hmmn... Nintendo is ending the online Wii Karaoke U service on 31 March. I'd guess this probably won't impact too many GRcadians but, alongside the closure of the Google Streetview and BBC iPlayer services, it does make me feel a little concerned about the U online services as a whole.

I wonder how long the servers for Kart 8, Smash, Splatoon, Mario Maker and Miiverse will run? I could imagine that Nintendo would want to turn them off quite quickly in order to bring increased focus upon the Switch services.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kart and Splatoon's services end around the time that the Switch games are released.

No, of course it won't happen THAT soon. Can't you still play Mario Kart Wii online?

Dont think so, I remember seeing something I'm sure about it being turned off.

Yeah, all Wii and DS online services - bar the Wii Shop - were turned off ages ago, unfortunately.

Nintendo Wi-Fi connection (Wii/DS online) was turned off only about a year and a half ago IIRC.

I can see them ending Wii U online support around the time they introduce the paid sub service on Switch

It would suck arse for them to do it, but I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Didn't Nintendo WiFi Connection shut down because it was based around GameSpy, which shut down in May 2014?

I hate to say it, but I think you could be right, magic. Tears will flow but - of course! - Club U will continue. In a way, this week could actually be seen as the peak of the console's life, what with a new Zelda title arriving :toot: .
