Thanks Jawa, that's really saved me the trouble of doing that!

Nintendo has released a system update for the U... version 5.5.2 is available now! And, excitingly, it offers extra stability. Wii U is *so* stable it doesn't even know it!

Remember to update before we next play Mario Kart Monday :) .

It also breaks 'hacks'.

>>> Breaking news <<<
There are rumours that the software update is the start of the Miiverse functionality being ended. I don't know if this is true but I'm really hoping that it's not... I would genuinely be a little upset about that.

The system software update has been data mined and apparently it contains the text "The Miiverse service has ended. Miiverse and any software features that make use of Miiverse are now unavailable.”. Miiverse continues to function at the moment but it looks like the end of the road may be reached soon.

I wouldn't mind quite as much if the Switch had a similar facility available... but it has literally nothing :( .

Playtonic Games wrote:Here at Playtonic we pride ourselves on being open and honest with our backers. That and our ability to eat cake. So today we are finally able to explain our decision to end production of Yooka Laylee on Wii U.

The simple truth is Miiverse was making the game impossible. So many bugs and performance issues were making a tricky job even tougher. We reached out to Nintendo for help and they said "ok chaps." But as further discussions went on it became clear that it would take time for them to deal with the Miiverse issue. So we asked about the Switch and Nintendo said they would love to see our new buddy duo on their new console but they were planning a new and improved super Miiverse. We were concerned that this would still cause issues with the game and sadly early testing indicated this was the case. We again reached out to Nintendo for help and such was their desire to see a bat and a lizard go to war with a bee they decided to end support for the new Miiverse on Switch. Which is why we are going to be able to bring Yooka Laylee to you on Nintendos new shiny mega popular console. Today is appears Nintendo are slowly dealing with the Miiverse issue on Wii U by removing it thus letting the many developers still making many games for the system finish their projects.

So in short. We here at Playtonic killed Miiverse.

I seem to have a problem with my new Switch. Sometimes I'll switch on and the L button won't respond at all. If I hard reset 2-3 times, it finally works and is perfect from then on. Anyone else had a similar problem?

:lol: ... :lol: :lol: :lol: . I could actually believe that :lol: .

I can see why most GRcadians didn't use Miiverse; it was too slow for many folk to be bothered with. But, in terms of creating links between gamers, it could be awesome. Whereas on, say, PS4 my interaction with other gamers usually centres around - ahem - screwing mothers and eating gooseberry fool, in Miiverse I could draw Pikmin and chat about birthdays. It was just way more pleasant.

Yeah, all up to date.

So bloody annoying that Nintendo have insisted on keeping saves on the console. I've put in hours and hours into Zelda, so I don't want to get the whole system swapped. Customer service say the joy-cons are taking quite a while to repair right now, so I don't want to send it away.

Also, sorry for writing this in the Wii U thread. Thought I was in the Switch one. :fp:

The only stability problem I have with the wii u is Netflix hard locking the console every other day, which gets quite annoying.

Yes. Sometimes there's a lag anyway so you're never really sure it's going to happen. But it will.

Of course it's safe for gaemz, it's the safest place. If there are no gaemz then they aren't getting damaged, or anything.
