Having just realised how excellent dolphin is with Wii games, if i can find a way to rip my Wii U games to a hdd I'd probably just keep my PRO controller and play them on pc.

Re-posted for new page (Ad and his Dolphin antics :x )

>>> Special Communication for Club Uvians <<<

As you may now know, the online tournament functionality is being switched off for the Wii U's Mario Kart 8 in early November. We are on the home stretch and, here in GRcade, we plan to make the most of of it.

Tonight the regular Monday Kart night is sponsored by a GRcadian who has been "enjoying" Bloodborne... and a particular boss called Bob. This is your chance to join in the karting, indulge in a bit of chat on Discord and, probably, have your evening ruined by an endless stream of bad luck and numerous examples of splittish behaviour.

Click here to find out more in the Wii U Kart thread.

I love my Wii U. If that makes me Jimmy Saville, then so be it.

Ok, big question. Doing a gaming/Pokemon birthday party for my 8 year old, which would be best Pokken or SSB?

Oh, blimey, I can’t really advise on this as I haven’t played Pokken and only dabbled for minutes with Smash. But... I think Smash is meant to be really cool for “settee play”!

Meanwhile... it looks like Just Dance 2018 could be the final disc release game for the Wii U. I’m not aware of anything else arriving. This means that my final disc purchase for the U will have been Darksiders.

SSB is definitely more of a party game - and you can have more people playing too

Yeah, I wasn't sure how technical a fighter Pokken was. My experience of SSB is that it's pretty easy to pick up and play, can it be played on just a wii remote?

It can, Rex, although functionality is slightly limited in comparison to other controllers (i.e. the Gamepad, a Pro Controller or a Remote-plus-nunchuck).

What was your final disc purchase, Club Uvians? I’m guessing that, in many cases, it will have been Zelda BotW. Also, are there any games that you’re still looking to add to your U collection?

I enjoyed it, the haters are wrong.
I don't plan on purchasing anymore Wii U disc games, but I probably will rent a few more from Boomerang. And totally not rip them to a hard drive to play at my leisure after sending them back.

My last one was either Paper Mario, Fast Racing Neo or Steamworld Collection.

I'm playing DK Tropical Freeze again

Actually I lie, it was treasure tracker as Lego City was a digital purchase.

Pokken is literally Tekken with pokemon, except it has 2 "modes" to each fight - field mode and combat or something, with different move sets (close range and long range), just try the demo.

Smash is easy to play but incredibly deep, it can be frustrating keeping up with what the hell is going on though. I'd stick the smaller maps and characters like Pikachu, Kirby and Mario. It's possible to play it as a 100% pokemon game though, there's always a pokemon stadium level that's interesting because it changes form every minute or so and you could also do a custom match to limit items to pokemon themed things like assist trophies and pokeballs.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I brought Smash at parties when I was 12 or so, it was amazing.
