I think you will be surprised by the changes implemented in the previous two patches, Eight', let alone the new update! You should be fine to carry on from your last save. It takes a while to get used to the updates but they do open things up.

I'm excited about the impending arrival of the new update... I hope that it lands soon as I am keen to return to the game :) .

The only issue I ever had when playing across patches was that the planet I was on between patches could sometimes change and balls up the 100% scanning bit. Given there are eleventy billion other planets to scan I didn't think it was too big an issue.

There are rumours that the new update will become available later today. This could be a great way to launch the weekend :toot: .

Has much changed around micro-managing of resources and inventory limits? I can't see myself restarting this only because of the game taking up too much time with resource management.

Sure sounds a great deal better. I see it's £9.99 on PSN, may have to finally jump in now

If it's not a buggy/crashy mess like it was last time I played I might try the PC version again when I can get it for £10 or less.
I know the PSN version is that much but the PC version has mods.

I'd suggest starting a new game as the updates will help achieve things earlier in the game, like building your base on a planet that has a good environment with great resources. something you may have had to leave behind as you ventured forward in your last play.

All my hired hands at my base have vanished and the base is overgrown with flora. What gives? :?

Yeah, my chaps seemed to have disappeared, too - fortunately it's easy enough to get replacements, though. I dunno if it's a bug but plants are growing through the floor in a couple of areas of my base as well

The update is massive, though - it feels like a vastly different game to the one at launch. Hopefully a few more folk will return to it or even give it a go for the first time.

Grainger Games has this for £9.99 so think it's finally time for me to give this game a go. I guess it should be great for newcomer now with all the improvements? Everything should be explained as I go?

You know it's on the PSN store? £9.99, cheaper if you buy points from cd keys too.

It's not perfect but we'll worth £10.

Milner, do yourself a favour and just play it blind, a lot of the initial joy is in the discovery of everything.

Not wanting to knock all the work they've been ploughing into this but they seem to have gone quiet on the integration with psvr. :(

Yeah, it's a good point to start playing. To be fair, I think that people who have played it since launch will be more likely to notice and appreciate the changes, though - it has been hugely upgraded.

ITSMILNER wrote:...Everything should be explained as I go?

Uhm... there is a lot more guidance than in the launch game. However, it's not the kind of game to hold the player by the hand - it's a massive universe and the fun is in exploring and discovery; even the target pathways are, for me, merely an optional part of the game. For better or worse, the game is at it's best when you're wandering around and doing things your own way.

I bought a copy too. Looking forward to chilling out and not getting up to much.

Maybe one day we will all get together and see each other's orbs. >_>

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
