Sure, it's a tiny, one-room place... but it's the first pad that I have built and I'm made-up about it  .

Looks like sci-fi Animal Crossing :D

Thankfully I made a swift exit, Alvin. One quick picture and then I zoomed off!

I just installed the Hyperdrive and Photonix Core on my ship!

I love the new production functions; the find / refine / build cycle works really well. I'm still getting used to the much wider variety of minerals and mechanisms and the ways in which they are powered. My next objective is to produce a Warp Cell for travel... and, to make that, I need to produce an Antimatter Housing and Antimatter.

This is looking like it's gonna be challenging for my GOTY :-) .

I’m completely addicted like I have been to a game in years!

The base building stuff is weird. I was doing the Base Computer Archives missions for ages but what really opened things up for me was building a circular room at random, and then it starts offering you loads of base quests.

Spent most of this evening searching for buried technology and learning how to grow new plants. The base is messy as I started off just like your little hut that started adding more and more onto it. Once I’ve unlocked everything I need, going to start a new one somewhere.

So spent the vast majority of the last two weeks planning, gathering resources and then building a farm that would produce circuit boards at a rate of 32 every 2 hours, which sold for roughly 38 million units. Literally the day I get it finished, they patch the game and now it takes 40 hours for me to be able to produce the circuit board and they sell for 28 million units instead.

I see a lot of people of Reddit claiming this was done as large farms were effectively an exploit, but I've got a 60 hour save where most of that time was dedicated to building this thing. Meanwhile, you can still use a glitch with refiners to duplicate things and make hundreds of millions :| It's not like I planned to actually be harvesting every 2 hours as I can't be playing that often, but a couple of times each day would still have been nice.

Sort of feel like I'm going to be playing the game less in the next two weeks while I just let my units build up slow. Don't want those situations where you find the perfect Freighter/Starship and can't afford it.

Been buying some new ships... and got myself a new Freighter!

I see a lot of NMS players will 'farm' for S-Class ships, but apparently even in the top systems, the chance of a ship being S-Class is 2%. The Freighter up there is A-Class and that's fine for me. Managed to get an S-Class Hauler simply because I lucked out and it landed before an A-Class version did.

How long did it take to get that freighter?

Quite a while, but it depends on what you already have. I think it cost around 130m. I’m at the point where I can make that money quite easily, but only because I’ve spent weeks building a farm and unlocking blueprints. I use my farm to make 8 circuit boards a day and 8 living glass a day, then just hang about in a space station to buy the materials to craft superconductors, Cryo-pumps and Iridesite. Combine it all for 8 Stasis Devices which sell for roughly 130m in total. Blueprints farmed from raiding manufacturing facilities seems to be the key to making money as you can buy all the materials so cheaply.

After you’ve done the initial Save the Freighter mission, the game will throw a Save the Super Freighter mission at you every 5/6 warp jumps as long as it’s been 6 hours or more since the last freighter battle. The freighter model is different in every system, so I was reloading saves and trying different systems. There is also random chance for what classs it is, so the hardcore players keep reloading for that 2% chance of the one they come across being S-Class. As long as you jump to the same system after reloading the freighter model will be the same, but it can be awkward finding that system again on the map if you have a large jump range.

... :o ...that's looks amazing, Grin.

Since I started back on FF XIV I haven't played NMS but I reckon there's room for both. I'm still in the early stages (just built my first ever base!) but it was great fun. You're clearly substantially further into the journey!

You can really play it however you want. I've only visited 14 systems which really isn't much, but I've been pretty focused on a few things like unlocking blueprints, both the crafting and base building kind.

My next aim is to unlock all 16 glyphs needed for using the portals. Currently have 3 of them. I've been looking into this Galactic Hub, a pretty large player community, and I'm going to need the portals to get to the region they're located in.

160 hours into my save, and I feel like everything I've done so far has been 'prep' for actually playing. I've reached the Galactic Hub which is a player community that consists of 11 regions, and thousands of systems. Instead of being on your own little path where everything is undiscovered, you're much more likely to come across places others have been, and discover their bases.

The idea is you can use eachother's farms to gather resources, but it can all be documented to to find things more easily. Like right now I'm adding to the Space Stations I come across that contain Travellers to the wiki, so people can go there and unlock more portal glyphs.

Currently looking for a suitable system that has planets in the frozen, scorched, lush and irradiated biomes to set up a little network of farms. Once that's done, going to carry on searching for that one planet to build a home base on!

Build a portable refiner and beacon as soon as you can.

I didn't play NMS until Next came out, then put in 250 hours in 2 months :slol:

Built a huge farm, and then saw the terrain regenerate and make it useless, and it sort of killed my motivation. Not sure when I'll give this new patch a go now that RDR2 is here.
