On an actual gameplay related subject, I started a new game. My old save saw almost the entire system I was in change, so all undiscovered planets, and no idea where my base had gone.

Started on a new planet that had toxic rain, but that was the worst of it. Quickly got my hazard protection back on, found my crashed ship and started getting it repaired. There's a crashed freighter nearby, which I'm looking forward to scavenging, and I'm going to go and get the rest of my ship repairs done before taking off to explore the neighbouring planets.

Ah! The bonus items still work but one or two have changed a bit!

Was : Now

Boltcaster SM blueprint : Still Boltcaster SM blueprint
Trader Charisma: Aronium x2, Dirty Bronze x2 (worth 100,000 credits!)

I've had the update pushed through on Galaxy, and that still shows V1.5.

According to the changelog, the previous version was 1.38 on 03/10/17.

I'm not sure what to make of the new analysis visor, and just how much it points out on the world around you. It just immediately reveals anything if interest within a certain radius, and kind of spoils the sense of exploration. On the other hand, it means you can easily avoid that frustrating feeling that you're trapped in some empty bit of map with nothing to do /find.

The Gog.com version isn't getting the newest update for a while yet. There's no set date yet besides "Later"

I have to admit though, as much as I crap on the disastrous launch of the game, I am tempted to give it another try. Can get the Steam version from Humble Bundle for about £16.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure before I downloaded the nearly 10Gb update. :dread:

It's had all changes but the multiplayer from the NEXT update added to it.

I think I need to get back into this again. Is starting a new game the way to go? I've not played it for at least the last 2 expansions/updates so there are probably some significant changes (think the last one I remember was capital ships??).

Opinions vary but I went with starting again, Rex. Many of the mechanisms work differently now and, having not played it for a while, it helped to go through all of the opening mission again to build up an understanding of the new gameworld.

Dang it. Just reading through the NMS thread in Reset and I realised that I took off from the opening planet without picking up my portable refinery :fp: . I must have gotten too excited about going up into space! .

I wonder if I can find my way back and collect it?

You are already dead.

I'm going to start this up, hopefully grrt the last couple of trophies I need for the platinum a bit easier than before, then restart.

Yeah, i saw SD64 post about this earlier. Its gog wallet funds only, so it still means forking out extra for a steam version, while I have credit on a store front I'm now sceptical about buying from. I guess I can put it towards Cyberpunk, I guess?

I'm not devastated by the lack of multiplayer, especially if it is coming later. It's just shitty that I've unwittingly ended up with a second tier product.

Your portable what?

I think I'd better start again. The game is letting me put things in storage in my base, but when I tried to teleport to my base from a space station, I was told I didn't have a base. :?

The game has crashed on me a couple of times now too. :|

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I don't like the idea of leaving rubbish around on a planet, though :shifty: .

Ooh, almost forgot, I took off from my starter planet, and followed the distress signal to a nearby one which looks great. Very lush jungle terrain, and some stunning seas.

Then I had to use the terrain manipulator to try and find a buried copper deposit. I've basically dug out an entire cliff face, and found diddly squat, so I think littering is probably the least of my ecological crimes.
