It's a quest but I haven't came across it yet.

Of the three planets I've seen, I've been within sight of a crashed freighter on each one. What the strawberry float happened in this system?

Also I bought another frigate (not the one pictured), but while looking through them I saw this...

Good news, your great aunt Doris has left you an industrial class freighter in her will, but with one condition.

You must spend a night in the haunted cargo bay to get the freighter.

Can you get anything out of them? When I was playing around launch, they were pretty much just empty terrain features. I'd love to actually find random crew logs, items etc among the hulking wrecks.

That actually sounds like a half decent sci-horror popcorn flick plot. :slol:

I needed something with actual fire power, that frigate had 0 weapons :(

But it's happened twice now :?

When I went there I found a ships log that talks about some things, and there are some crates, but a lot of the time they're buried under the earth and you need the terrain manipulator enhancement to the multi-tool in order to dig it out. Has anyone managed to obtain this yet? I have yet to see it being sold anywhere.

Edit: Uhhh can you only own one freighter at a time? There was no indication of this when I accepted my second freighter, and I will be pissed if this was the case since my old freighter was a class A and this thing is a class C. Any idea on how to find my old freighter? I would assume it should just be in the same place I left it? :fp:

I redownloaded this after all the hype - i "finished" the OG story mode and now all my old stuff has turned into "obsolete technology", so i have plenty of money but almost no equipment. I like that you can summon your ship on a whim and it doesn't use take-off fuel, so you can just go for a wander or visit multiple places without burning through it. Once i've got some basic bits back its time to make a rover and go driving.

What is the point of base building? Surely you're jetting across the galaxy so aren't sticking around too long?

Extra storage and for farming materials. You can build a teleport so you can access them from other bases and space stations.

Carrying on with my original save, made it to a system with some really horrible hot rain so I can make any progress there which is pretty annoying, but it all look a lot more interesting now plus there actually seems to be things to do now.

Appropriately my ps4 PRO sounds like a rocket taking off though

Played some more of this and while it's pretty enjoyable, it's definitely broken, and I don't just mean the bugs themselves.

Warping between systems doesn't make much sense. My freighter seems to be far more fuel efficient than my small space ship. Using just 1 warp core completely fills up the fuel meter on the warp engines in my freighter, while it only fills up about a third of the meter on the space ship. Then on top of that, you can just use the teleporter inside space stations to go to any system you've been to previously, and your spaceship comes along with you, at least let me summon it like you do with the freighters (which doesn't seem to use any fuel either).

Also, in my travels I came across this, an S-Class Ship

Sadly, didn't have the money to buy it :(

I started a new game of this over the weekend. Wound up on a super toxic planet. Quit and went back to my old save fair quick. :slol:

Most of my old suit, ship and multitool upgrades are now obsolete! :( So I scrapped them for technology doodads and nanite wotsits, and set off for the nearest world.

I'm still learning the ropes, but it seems like a genuinely better game than it used to be. I don't know how long I'll play it for, but I'm hopeful that I'll carry on a while yet.

I don't know how to restore my base from my old save.
Also the UI/menu system still is terrible. For example, how do I look for different world types?

I think you can restore previous bases by building a base computer and selecting it on that.

For anyone else using an old save file, it seems like you can't get a blueprint scanner. :|

I was wondering where the hell to find this thing, and it turns out, you build it in the tutorial, which if you load an old file, obviously you don't do.

I also think my base building inside the freighter is bugged. Whenever I speak to my construction manager, it just says "I should let the Gek get back to work". I really hope they sort these bugs out soon as I don't want to re-start my game.

I think I fudged up by missing the 'free freighter' at the end of the tutorial. I was doing some missions for Polo when I decided to google how long the tutorial was, and found out I'd sort of finished it. I'd jumped into a galaxy, seen something about pirates and got out of there quickly. I'm still in that galaxy, and a Freighter shows up as marked on my HUD, but it costs 13 million Units!

I want to get into the base building, get a farm going to start earning but my building options seem kind of limited for now. I have a blueprint scanner and several bits of salved tech but it's just letting me unlock things like lights and doorways. I'm searching every vendor for things like the glass dome, but no luck so far.

Okay, in the last 2 days this game has pissed me off so much I'm not sure I want to bother anymore.

Firstly, I lost a bunch of stuff in my Freighter as it doesn't tell you that can't have more than one. How hard would it be to have put a prompt it?

Most of the missions you can get from your Freighter are bugged. Attack a Freighter? It never tells you where it is. Steal plans? It always wipes the data after you pick it up. I've also got a damaged freighter than I can't fix, because it's listed as having 1 damaged component but when you go to it, none are actually damaged.

Same thing happened to me. I think base building in my freighter is also bugged because, while I have a construction manager, or whatever he's called. Whenever I go up to talk to him it just tells me I should let him get back to work.

I havn't experienced any of the bugged missions you mentioned though.

One other weird thing that happens to me is that every time I jump to a different system, my crew changes to the dominant life form in that system. So one second they will all be Gek, the next all Korvax. The crews on the frigates seem to stay consistent though.

Honestly can't tell if I love or hate this game. I've put a ridiculous number of hours into it considering I only started just over a week ago.

Only been to 6 systems so far. Not sure how far along the Space Anomaly quest line I am, but the next step it's asking me to warp 30 times, so that's going to be on hold for a while. I've done a little of the Artemis stuff and I've done quite a bit of the Base Computer Archives missions. Right now I'm working on gathering items and finding blueprints to try and get a farm going. I want to do that to get LOADS of units to buy a big ass Freighter because my 15 slot one is a chore.

Sure, it's a tiny, one-room place... but it's the first pad that I have built and I'm made-up about it  .
