From wiki
Shortly after No More Heroes's European release, PAL publisher Rising Star raved about its sales, with manager Martin Defries proclaiming:

"We are weeping with delight. Especially as sales should improve further with the TV campaign moving up a gear from tonight. It is a verification of all the posturing and ambitious claims made these past months. I think a 'told you so' would be apt at some point. Thanks to Nintendo and the Wii console. Thanks to Mastertronic for their sales efforts and all our retail partners. Most of all thanks to Grasshopper for the greatest of products"

Sequel

Goichi Suda was quoted as saying that if the game did well he would create a sequel.[citation needed] He made good on his promise by officially announcing a sequel called No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle during the 2008 Tokyo Game Show.[40] Like it's predecessor it will be released on the Wii console.[6]

No More Heroes 2 Out for Revenge, But Still Wii-only

No More Heroes 2 designer Goichi Suda has bestowed upon the internet the first details of the Wii action sequel after dropping a teaser trailer at the Tokyo Game Show last week.

"I wanted to make a lot more stuff, more detail. So this time in No More Heroes 2, I want to take my revenge," Suda revealed to Eurogamer. "And actually, the theme of No More Heroes 2 is revenge, so..." Suda trailed off, laughing to himself.

The designer explained that the sequel to Grasshopper Manufacture's off-kilter Wii brawler came about because of the original's commercial success, but in the process made it sound like a rock band's sophomore album: "I think it's time for No More Heroes to become serious," he said. "But ... it won't be too serious," he promised.

The sequel even had a shot of appearing on the Xbox 360, but Suda credited the Wii-mote for the game's continued exclusivity: "One of the really good points of this game was the way we used the remote control. ... If we took the Wii out of the equation, we'd have lost that, so the answer was that we had to make it on the Wii," he explained.

Suda is also accounting for the recent wave of censorship hitting Japan and European countries in the development of No More Heroes 2. "For Europe, we're going to release two versions. One extreme version, and one with less violence," he commented. But neither version is the "true" one; rather, "I had both the bloody version and the milder version in mind [when designing the game's concept]."

If they can improve the bike handling, and make the world a bit busier and alive, then I could see me liking this a lot.

I like your use of gentle understatement here ! But I enjoyed the first one nonetheless so no doubt will pick this up.

Not that I know of. It felt a bit Tron-like for me.

Not sure whether to get excited about this or not. I liked NMH but I didn't enjoy it enough to want a sequel.

There was a spin move you could do if you shook the controller, but it still wasn't exactly the most nimble of things.

Luckily the streets were fairly wide and unpopulated.

Is that some kind of t-shirt designing competition on the fourth scan?

Thanks for the scans, looking good. I'm skeptical as to where the plot can go but I'll come along for the ride!

Famitsu Scans Info

Following its announcement at last year's Tokyo Game Show, all went quiet on No More Heroes Desperate Struggle. That's about to change, it seems. Famitsu has a first report on the game, complete with character, story and gameplay details.

Travis Touchdown and Silvia Chrystel return for the Suda 51 sequel. The new story is set three years after Travis became rank number 1 assassin. Due to heavy investment from large corporations, Santa Destroy has rapidly become a tourist town. One day, Sylvia suddenly appears before Travis and invites him to another assassin ranking battle. At that very moment, Travis's sole friend, Bishop, is seen in somewhat of a pinch as a gang of ruffians take close aim at his head with guns.

What will happen to Bishop? And why has Sylvia appeared before Travis once again?

We're sure these questions and more will be answered as No More Heroes approaches release. For now, here are a few details that we were able to put together on gameplay changes.

Desperate Struggle retains the basic attack controls from the original for everything from Travis's Beam Katana to his wrestling moves. The big new feature from the magazine report is Travis's new dual sword abilities. With two swords in hand, Travis can deal up far more damage.

As with the original, facing off against members of the United Assassins Association (UAA) is one of the main points of the sequel. It looks like there'll be somewhat of a big volume upgrade for Desperate Struggle, as Famitsu provides a look at a fight against the 50th rank!

Nathan Copeland is the name of this low ranking assassin. He's into hip hop -- he even has his own underground label -- and carries around a boom box which can apparently transform into an arm weapon of some form.

Outside of these details, Famitsu confirms a No More Heroes Desperate Struggle showing for E3. But those who want a first look at the game will want to turn their browsers to Famitsu.com on Saturday the 30th, as the site is scheduled to debut the game's E3 video in advance!

That's the 30th Japan time. Famitsu.com often puts up exclusive videos when the clock turns midnight, so it might be good to check the site early, early Saturday morning Japan time.

In fairness, I don't really think it was meant to be nimble, just fast. It looks like the offsping of a Sinclair C5 and a german tank, and the name reflects that.

The first game has any number of these kinds of contrasting elements - Travis himself is a kind of a cross between a cool assassin and a dorky fanboy.
