https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/09/28/playstation-blogcast-308-wooooo/

Blogcast with Shawn Layden, Shawn mentioned

Now that we have Spiderman out the door, we're looking down in 2019 to games like Dreams and Days Gone but we wouldn't have enough to bring people altogether in some location in North America to have that event. We don't want to set expectations really high and then not deliver on it."

Real shame, I really liked having this and the Game Awards at Christmas time.

I went to the very first one of this in 2002. The goody bag was pretty good, if I remember. There was a blue PlayStation pen that lit up. And a yo-yo...there’s always a yo-yo.

I thought it was great in that original London incarnation.

Rumour has it it's because they're having a PS5 reveal in the spring instead. Makes no sense when you consider they still have...

Death Stranding
Last of Us 2
Ghost of Tsushima
Dreams
Days Gone

...to come, yes they released Last of Us (their biggest PS3 game) the same year as PS4 launched, but there's no way they all get released the same year as PS5.

They could reveal PS5 in Spring with a release in Q4 2020, that gives them plenty of time to release those 5

2019
Feb - Days Gone
Aug - Dreams
Nov - Last of Us 2

2020
Feb - Ghosts of Tsushima
Aug/Sept - Death Stranding
Nov - PS5

They also have that Medievil Remaster to release at some point

Considering how garbage it was last year I don’t blame them.

And there’s not a shred of evidence that there is going to be a reveal next year. It’s purely speculation from Resetera.

Never forget: https://youtu.be/OkkQzgqd78Y?t=1h42m26s

To think we got that and God of War in the same year  I'm still buzzing.

I like the sound of that, not expecting much from Days Gone, but it's fits in with their 2 big exclusives per year pattern.

Hopefully these games don't end up having cross-gen/remasters, just have them run in enhanced 4K when played on PS5.

Can’t see Death Stranding for next year. We barely know what it is

It's a game about being a really drugged up postman (who also happens to be able to rip his own big toenail off with only minor discomfort) from the future, what more information do you need?

Not really a surprise considering E3 was mainly focused on 4 games.
Also where the heck is the Medievil remaster there hasn't been no news on that since the reveal trailer last year,

I think they're saving everything else PS4 related until next E3 now.

Hopefully E3 2020 will be about PS5 and, hopefully, we'll see what Guerilla, Team Ico, Polyphony and Naughty Dog (team B) have been working on.

If it ever comes back it'll be through another studio.

Naughty Dog (under Neil Druckman) are now focused on mature titles like The Last of Us and the rumoured sci-fi horror Savage Starlight.

The days of Jason Ruben and Crash Bandicoot/Jak & Daxter are over for them.

Game Awards is becoming big enough to where they might just be considering leaving any big announcements to them. I mean we did get games like The Last of Us shown before PSX was a thing.
