"Nintendo holds the publishing rights to Fatal Frame Wii, which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008,” Tecmo said in a statement to IGN.

“Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory."

“As the owner of the IP, Tecmo feels very unfortunate that the fans of the series in North America will not have a chance to play the game, but respects the final decision made by Nintendo of America.”

Living in Europe has never seemed to so good, eh?

NOE are releasing the title in Europe this Summer, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

It works for everything, doesn't it?

I remember the days when we all liked Reggie. :(

Of course, the other side of the coin is: Go NOE! \o/ Mind you, no sign of ExciteBots over here. /o\

We'd all love Reggie in June if he announces the following:

They're working on Another Code and Fatal Frame IV. They'll get around to ExciteBots after they finished the boat load of stuff NOA has passed on.

I'll take Fatal Frame and Another Code over ExciteBots any day. 8-)

Surely it'd cost NOA bugger all, relatively speaking, to release Fatal Framas there has to be an English translation of the game in the PAL release? Unless its all cockney rhyming slang of course.

Well, no. The vast majority of the cost is presumably in the duplication and distribution, rather than the translation.

They still havnt released disaster either. Its like NOA knows it will be a slow burner and wont bother.

That said europe tend to buy into curio titles more than the US (No cooking Navi for them) and maybe its revenge from when they revealed Wind Waker and the US journos all poured scorn on it.

I have to say, I honestly wasn't expecting to prefer to be under NoE's jurisdiction than NoA's.

What? Are studios so scared of falling out with Nintendo that they have to say spineless things like this now?

Sounds like standard PR speak to me.

They don't need to slam Reggie in a statement. Their assertions are damaging enough.

Basically admitting that core games don't sell on Wii, but we knew this already.

Epic and Capcom have had no problems airing their dirty laundry with Microsoft and Sony in public, though. The latter essentially called the people who operate the EU PSN store a bunch of useless fuckwits.

Epic and Capcom do seem to to have some of the more outspoken personalities pimping their games. Tecmo need another Itagaki to raise some hell.

Tecmo are obviously pissed, but why risk destroying any prospect of a US release when they can make Reggie look like an ass:

MTV Multiplayer: “Fatal Frame 4,” published by Nintendo in Japan. There’s been confusion and mixed signals about whether that’s coming to America.

Fils-Aime: We are not the publisher of that title in the Americas. So I can’t comment on it… I don’t know if it has a publisher.
