Just announced the (surprise, surprise) N97, full touchscreen jobby with slide out keyboard and a whopping 32gb of memory etc, etc.
Due in the early part of next year this could be what I've been waiting for;

Edit more pictures and a different (read biased) take on the news;

You should.

Actually, you should never order a phone again. Mostly because within 2 minutes, there will be a better phone just about to come out.

Yeah, that's what I always end up doing, no matter what comes out it's never quite what I want but this may be up to the task.

I was wanting an N96 but ended up with an N85. It was only when I got home and looked online that I found out that the N85 is better than the N96. It has an OLED screen, FM transmitter and all the other features bar the TV receiver, but as the TV receiver is useless in the UK it isn't an issue.

It is also better looking and slightly smaller. Most on line reviews rate it higher than then N96.

Nice, does battery last longer then a comparitive phone? OLED screens are supposed to use less power.

It is meant to last longer with the OLED but battery life thus far has been rather poor as I discover all of the features, mess about with them etc. I have managed to get 2-3 days between charges on average.

Slide out keyboard instantly makes it > an iPhone. I like the way the screen slides out at an angle to make it more comfortable.

it looks great, but will I be able to get it free on a £30 a month contract in 15 months?

You can just get an N96 for that from 3 so it doesn't seem too far fetched.

More on Nokia messaging, Facebook integration as well;

Its still less than a PAYG iphone though and thats plainly the market Nokia is going after with this phone. It will be interesting to see Apple respond to this. 32GB iphone 3G in January?

Still doesn't beat the camera on my N82. I have 8GB memory which suites me just fine.

Looks bigger, more delicate, am going to give this one a miss.

I was just looking at my first Nokia (7650) on GSM arena and its hard to believe just how much phones have improved since then. It only had 4MB of memory and a VGA camera but at the time it was top of the line.

Engadget have put up a new hands on video of the phone.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/02/nokia-n97-video-hands-on/

Looks pretty decent. Not an iPhone beater but impressive all the same.
