I know there's plenty of shameful gooseberry fool I've said out there.

You started a website about getting old when you were what, 29?

It was all about the short domain name to be honest. Same reason I chose GRcade which was originally GRcade.com when we launched.

I believe that Gecko arranged, a little while back, for grcade.com to redirect to grcade.co.uk .

Yeah, looks like it still does. I think that was done for legal reasons as the .com domain fell under some US jurisdiction. Don't remember the ins and outs of it all as it was a very long time ago, but I know that we were better positioned as a .co.uk rather than a .com when it came to legal shenanigans.

The amount of companies/publishers and legal muppets acting on their behalf that used to message me to take down threads on this forum for slagging off their games and whatnot was hilarious. We were just a little community forum but clearly pissed a few people off. Doubt any of that goes on these days.

We all do. We were young and the 2000s were a time of terrible "edgy" humour.

I've also done a little spring cleaning of my comments that ranged from 'Ouch, without context that's a bit rough' to 'What the actual strawberry float was I thinking'. I think it's back from those halcyon days when your online persona was completely divorced from your real life and so we felt a bit more 'comfortable' trying on a bit of edgelord humour. It was gooseberry fool then and it's gooseberry fool now, but at least large parts of the younger generation have the mentality of 'if it goes online it's there forever' which makes them a little more sensible.

I wonder if it's possible to set up a bot to auto delete everything I post on here half an hour after I've written it.

Personally, I've always posted 100% solid gold that perfectly captured the zeitgeist.

Apart from the first few weeks after I joined, when I was putting the titles of any games I mentioned in italics, like some Romantic novelist off his head on laudnum.

Don't sweat it folks- "what goes on toast stays on toast" as they say. >_>

I think the most important thing is that, by and large, amongst the frayed tempers and petty arguments, we all had a good laugh.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

It's the frayed tempers and arguments that keep me coming back. I could probably live without the good laughs.

I still do that occasionally. It just sits better sometimes.

I was 14 when I first posted on the Gamesradar forum. I'm 35 now. Back then I would have had the most disdainful opinion of a 35-year-old man posting on a gaming forum  fuuuuck.

I think I probably did at the time in some of the threads they were moaning about. I'd have to trawl through my PM's as many would open an account here and then PM me. Some used the whois info when I was listed as the contact and email me directly.

They had no legal basis to ask for the removal of threads anyway. Slagging a game off is not illegal.

I still often use italics for titles.
