Eurogamer rated it well, but a couple of lines made me wary from a sheer time investment perspective after going through Origins earlier this year:

I dunno, Trelliz... personally I think it's hard to view a game offering too much content as being a drawback, especially in these days of stuff often being held back as payable DLC.

I suppose my problem is with the type of 'content' that Origins had - a handful of doing the same things over and over again with vast tracts of empty space in between. I'm glad that apparently the first civilisation storyline is coming back to some degree, but I'm absolutely not in any rush for more AC for the foreseeable future, which is something I never thought I'd say.

If you watch the review I posted above the guy reviewing it seemed to really enjoy the side quests and didn't mind the way they were set.
I'm going to get this and I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy it as Origins was excellent.

Yeah I don’t see it having loads of content as a bad thing. As long as it’s good content and not too repetitive (which AC games are very guilty of!).

I'm getting the Gold download edition. You get the game, two bonus missions and the season pass, which includes 6 extra episodes plus ACIII Remastered and AC Liberation Remastered. I'm one of the few who really liked ACIII, so it's a good deal for me. It's £69.99 on CDKeys - £10 cheaper than elsewhere.

I've preordered AC: Odyssey as I really love the Greek setting so getting it on XBX for the best graphics. This is a single player game that potentially is going to be supported for 2 years and if it's a game that works for you that's a great thing.

I watched the IGN review - the game looks lovely and great fun, but bugger me it's too big! No way would I have even 10% of the free time needed to see everything. What's the point in making these gargantuan worlds, if most people don't get to experience it all?

A couple of othe folk have said the game is "too big"... but I don't get how that is being called out as a "bad thing", really! Sure, if there is a ton of bloat then maybe it is too big, but - by most accounts - the gameplay remains decent throughout. In these days of publishers putting out small campaigns or even no campaigns, I don't get that a huge, single-player focused adventure could be a problem. If it's fun and it takes time to complete... well, that sounds like value for money.

Considering just how few games i buy each year, a nice big game world that'll keep me occupied for a couple of months is just what i need.

The trouble I often find is that I'll plug loads of hours into a massive open world game, not get close to completing it, and then the next shiny thing gets released which catches my eye and off I go, leaving an unfinished behemoth to gather dust.

XB1X's lowest dynamic resolution is higher than the PS4 Pro's highest dynamic resolution.

PS4 Pro max: 2816x1584
PS4 Pro min: 2227x1242
PS4 Pro Average: 2560x1440

XB1X max: 3840x2160 (native 4k)
XB1X min: 2944x1656
XB1X average: 3072x1728

XB1X a 76% increase in output pixels vs PS4 Pro in opening battle, 44% on average.
XB1X has better draw distances and shadows.
XB1X has improved Ambient Occlusion

Framerate is a fairly solid 30fps on both Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, but can be inconsistent.

Everyone seems really positive on this. The best thing about it is that despite being very similar to Origins it sounds like it's very much it's own thing.
