I don't think he needs to do anything productive for the rest of his life now. He's set.

Keep billions of pounds laying in the bank while people struggle to survive. Spending 70 Billion on a house.

Not really sure I could look at myself in the mirror if I were that rich and didn't try to help people.

strawberry float people.

I'd pay someone to look in the mirror for me.

The thing is, even after that $70,000,000 purchase he's still got well over two BILLION dollars left from the Microsoft buyout alone, not to mention all the money he made beforehand. $70 million is nothing by comparison, so it's not like he's closed off the option of giving to charity if he wants to. Even so, he made that money through his own work so as far as I'm concerned he can do whatever he likes with it. If I ended up with that much money I know I'd want to enjoy it.

Two billion left from MS? Tax would have taken a lot and his two partners got their cuts.

I agree with you though. He has done a lot of charity work plus was always top of the early days of the humble bundles. He gave back enough even before he sold the company.

When you start thinking you can tell people how to spend their own legitimately earned money, you become the ridiculous version of a left-winger that Cal believes exists.

Oh, you mean like the right wing people who also tell you how to spend your legitimately earned money on their extortionate prices, disproportionate taxes and many other things? Seriously MCN, I thought you were in a position where you could understand how completely unfair the system is. Notch isn't here, you don't have to defend every single thing he does.

So your solution is to do the exact same thing? Tell me, what is the maximum amount of money a person should have?

I'm saying that people who earn more should be taxed higher, or everyone else should be paid more.

It shouldn't be a race to the bottom, you shouldn't take money away from the rich. You should give more money and support to the people who need it, which currently in our broken system the only people who can actually afford to do it are people sat with billions in their bank accounts which they'll never spend or give to anyone, it'll just sit there while t hey suck the worlds economy dry through interest.

You could easily have 10 million max and live the life of Riley for the rest of your life with no issues at all due to interest.

Ok, so Notch has money and bought himself a nice house. That means he needs to fix the entire capitalist system and world economy?

That's not what you said at all! You said nobody should have that much money. So what's the limit before you start forcibly taking the rest off somebody?

How much should they be taxed, then? And answer my previous question please, while you're at it.

That is dependant on the Government and in turn those that vote them in. Notch and co have probably been taxed to the eyeballs considering he is in Sweden.

I hope he has a good time when he is there and it should do his kid some good also, you know seeing the glowing hell demon in the sky (I forget what it's called, I rarely see it).

How much would you like to be taxed on your earnings StayDead?

And I trust you've done the research on tax rates for the super rich in Sweden/US? I expect you've already done the numbers on sales tax for a $70 million house purchase? You've definately already calculated the US property tax fees he can expect to pay, right? You've not forgotten all of the tens of thousands of dollars hes already (publicly) donated to charities before he sold the company? You deffo took the time to research taxation on a $2 billion+ company sale, though didnt you?

You've definately not just made a kneejerk argument on the basis that anyone who has more money than you is morally bankrupt, have you?

I think the 45% tax rate, which I think is what it is at the moment in this country, is quite enough.
