Yep, the way they directly compared Jürgen's 40 piece torii gate with Chigs' 2 piece tree during the bake felt like it was setting up for Chigs getting told he wasn't don't enough, but no. And how they could criticise the colour of those matcha boats, but barely comment on the apples that looked a kind of sickly purple is also mad.
Jürgen and Chrystelle were the two that produced showstoppers that looked like the really were semi final standard. Giuseppe and Chigs I think were pretty underwhelming, at least presentation wise.
Dowbocop wrote:I think this too to be honest. Chigs' centrepiece was properly amateur compared to all the others, you could buy that in a kit for Christmas - what would Jurgen have put up in terms of cakes if he just knocked together a tree in twenty minutes? Giuseppe's tower could've had a bit more definition - the Leaning Tower isn't just a stone pillar, so he could've at least drawn the windows on to give it a bit of detail. They also said there was no flavour in the cakes themselves without the cherry, so the execution of the bake itself was wrong. Jurgen did well with the matcha/raspberry combination and also put up a highly technical showstopper. Chrystelle's just looked phenomenal, she absolutely bossed it.
