On a slightly different note, were you saying you think that makes the 2070 price ok (if it does turn out to be around £459)?

Its a significant price hike over any previous 'XX70' range card.

Noooo, not at all. I was trying to come at it with the angle that the 2070 was £100s more than the 1080 for essentially the same power, but then the first 1080 I found was actually more expensive and I ended up reversing my point!

I think it just goes to show how utterly ridiculous GFX card prices are these days. All over the shop.

Soooo... which card should I buy? I'm not a miner (whatever that is), but I do want VR and 4K for as little as possible.

I would wait for the bechmarks and see what the 2070 can do then look at the prices of the released 2070 cards. You may be looking at a 2080 or 1080ti for high frames in 4k.

Thanks for that. Had a look and saw a 2070 (with ray tracing!) for £499. Seems to be more powerful than the 1080ti (£650), so why is it cheaper?

According to the report I just posted on the last page, the 2070 is only slightly better performance-wise than the standard 1080. I suspect that's why.

Also, it's not out yet. I expect the prices of all the 10xx series cards to fall after the 20xx's are released. Not much, though.

I've got a 2080Ti on the way for my PC. It's to replace my 2 1080's in SLI. I'm done with SLI. Simply not worth it and I heard the 2080Ti is great for 3440x1440 gaming. Yo! I've got 2 1080's for sale! Anyone interested? I'll report performance when it arrives!

Oh. When are they out then? I should definitely wait... but the price won’t fall much you say? Is there a pricing convention or something?

Stop showing off! :x

How can two 1080ti’s not be worth it when I’m going all out to get just one!

SLI is a bit of a con, you don't get twice the performance and in the past its caused issues with games.

The 2070 is out now by the way, but its only just available.

Whilst some of the initial benchmarks for the 20XX range haven't been overly impressive (particularly for the cost!) I still expect we'll see some improvement in real world performance once developers start taking advantage of some of the new features.

Some of the pricing on the 2070 partner cards are "interesting". Some are £459 all they way up to over £650. Prices are all overe the place.
