You're right, it is entirely British. For some reason the AFI still has it on their list, they used to have The Third Man on it as well, but they removed that a couple of years ago after realising it wasn't American. It might take a little while before they get their grubby hands off Lawrence..

One film buff I know called it 'The Favourite Film of People Who Don't Really Like Films'.

It's good, don't get me wrong, but I was always perplexed by it's staggering adoration on here.

What a disgrace. Doesn't this guy have any pride? Sense of propriety? I can't believe that this is our leader. Very bad form.
