What was the one with John Leslie, where he would keep insisting people to "drink your scab juice"?

John Fashanu appeared on this once and apparently this is where he stole the "awooga" catchphrase from Charles

I was in the audience! I was a student in Manchester at the time and BBC North West was just round the corner.

Craig Charles bought me a pint.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Amazing! I've chatted to him very briefly at a sci-fi convention once, seems like a decent bloke all in all.

Cheeky Devlin wrote:I think Craig Charles is the king of 1-season obscure rubbish.

Only Red Dwarf, Robot Wars and Corrie seem to have been particularly successful for him on TV.
Everything else was either utter gooseberry fool, or cancelled very quickly.

Captain Butler is a bit of both. A pirate sitcom that aired for 6 episode in 1997.

I remember thinking it was ok at the time, but nothing particularly special.
But then I was 14 and stupid, so god knows. I can't bring myself to watch it again.

Youtube has all six if anyone fancies watching it.

EDIT: Reading up on it again I forgot that Robert Llewellyn appears in an episode as Nelson.

Oh man, Captain Butler was pure trash! Might just watch it again as some kind of pleasure/pain experiment

Charles was pretty prolific at odd-jobbing during the 90s, but I think that was true of a lot of people - seemed to be an era of trying out loads of formats and seeing what sticks really. He did The Gadget Show on Channel 5 for quite a few years as well so did have some successes!

Speaking of Craig Charles one-off obscurities, anyone remember GhostWatch the "live from a haunted house" mokumentary show that was on for Halloween 92? That was really good!

Ghostwatch was absolutely terrifying.

Not sure if it qualifies as obscure though!

Ghostwatch is still remembered by a lot of folks, so no, it's not what i'd call obscure.

It did receive a blu ray release recently too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ghostwatch-Blu ... 038&sr=8-4

Probably doesn't count as obscure, but does feel like it's been forgotten more than it should have been given how great it was. Not being able to repeat it probably didn't help

Night & Day

A strange and short lived soap (starring Leslie Joseph among others) which featured an opening song by Kylie Minogue, it was put together for ITV as a means of replacing Home & Away which it lost to channel 5 (and so needed to fill the time slot, which it did with both this and a revived version of Crossroads, both bombed and were soon dropped because, well, they were rubbish  ).

Oskar, Kina & The Laser

Back in the 70s during the summer the BBC would show dubbed, (cheaply) imported European children's TV series. I guess they thought most kids were playing outside and/or they wanted to save money.

The age old story of a boy, his goose and a talking laser he carried in a box. I couldn't find any trace of the English dubbed version, but you get the idea.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Anyone remember the show Woof?

It was basically a kid who for unknown reasons kept turning into a dog, literally don't remember anything else about it though.

Woof was great, I remember the intro had him walking around and changing between dog and boy form every time he walked behind a convenient piece of scenery!

Yeah I watched it every time it was on. It was gooseberry fool compared to get your own back but it was still alright. The kids on it were always so annoying.

Was that the one where they asked the parent questions about the kid and if they got them wrong they’d get dunked in gunk?
