Smacks of MS money hatting at the last minute to try and attach themselves to VR ahead of the inevitable Morpeheus blowout.

The last thing I want to use when using a VR headset is a regular pad.

Pretty much this, seems to also confirm Xbox One won't be getting VR.

Maybe Xbox One to Windows 10 was the cloud thing they were talking about al along.

Having a familiar pad can be a godsend when you can't actually see it. Elite: Dangerous is incredible with a Rift, but I need to use Voice Attack alongside a HOTAS because there's no way I'd be able to find all the switches in a pinch.

Anyway, once you get over the novelty you're not going to want all games to be motion controlled. Just being able to look around in a 3D space is amazing, and makes even regular games a lot more immersive. The sense of scale alone is amazing, especially in something like Elite where you're dealing with planets and space stations, and being able to see all around yourself makes a real gameplay difference when you're in a dogfight.

They should've done something with Kinect 2.0 instead.

Having tried both this and Morpheus, I gotta say - Morpheus has the more impressive effects.
