It's just a glorified visual novel but it is pretty fun and the story is not bad.

The review, abbreviated: great technical demo, ropey story, cringeworthy dialogue in places. I'm still getting it but am waiting for a price drop.

I'd completely disagree with "ropey story" and describing it as a technical demo. Describing it as a technical demo means you've gone in expecting a third person action game rather than an interactive narrative game. You might as well describe a visual novel as a technical demo.
Cringworthy dialogue in places is accurate, but that's just part of the charm.
