Thought the subscriber cover this month was excellent.

Expecting/hoping for something epic for Resident Evil 2 on the cover next issue.

 . I always make an "addition" to the reviews in these OPM threads, Db. On this occasion the focus was... Fisher 23:49!

Why oh why does the E3 section have to be a separate magazine?

The news and the Hot 50 sections are in the main mag and focus on written summaries of the games advertised at E3; the additional mag is more screenshot-orientated. I guess that the production is set for the standard 116-page mag and it's easier to produce an additional 64-page supplement rather than compile a 180-page edition. From an advertising perspective the "double-mag" approach is probably more attractive than a "bigger mag", too.

Because you can probably get away with selling 2 magazines for £7 (a price they seem to do at least 3 times a year now) but not 1 bumper edition. There haven't been many issues of OPM that have gone past the 200 page barier. No E3 edition of the magazine has ever featured that many screenshots either, so you're also getting that. Maybe it's easier as well in terms of E3 deadlines.

I think this is also the longest OPM has gone without a design change. I'd probably hold off until nearer the PS5 though.

I've always found it strange why Future's gaming magazines for the past 10 years - with the exception of Retro Gamer - insist on being so narrow. Compared to the vast majority of magazines on the shelves, the dimensions are wrong. I think PSW was one of the first and then they all slowly adopted it. It's a small thing I know, but I've just never liked it.
