Wonder if PES 2009 can match that...

they gave PES 2008 an 8/10 didn't they?

9 wasn't it? IIRC that is the first score that I haven't agreed with from the mag.(still the best Official mag since the original OPM)

I'll reserve my FIFA judgement for 11/9.

LOL Wut? That score is way to high, and I'm a huge fan of the series, and also at the name - I presume it's some translating issue from the japanese version. Or maybe it's a German only porno version of the game.

Some more things of note from this month's issue…

Features

A massively in-depth look at Street Fighter (14 pages – well worth reading if you’re a big fan)
DC Universe Online
OPM Interview: Hideo Kojima

The Big Ten

Heavy Rain (did you know that, if the woman happens to die, you take over as another character, of a possible 6 in total?)
Making Music in the new Guitar Hero
Meet the real Sheva Alomar (Michelle Van Der Water)
DIY guest stars in Soul Calibur 4
The New Lara Croft model
Wipeout HD re-tooled
Uncharted man talks trophies
The game sites that matter
Hands on with PES 2009
YES/NO Do MMOs have a place on PS3?

Rumours

Bizarre Creations super successful space shooter Geometry Wars is defecting to PSN.
Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development as a PS3 exclusive & will be announced at TGS.
SEGA is doing a new Jet Set Radio.
Sony's shiny Trophies aren't just for PS3 - they're coming to PSP too.
Boom Blox is coming to PlayStation formats.

Mercenaries 2 really doesn’t seem to be anything special, at all. Bear in mind this is an exclusive review to boot. A few snippets…

It’s as if Pandemic has missed the gear change between the last generation & this one. Chunky, poorly textured environments, unpredictable 40 watt AI, repetitive missions and occasional glitches all threaten to sour the experience. Mercs 2 isn’t ruinously broken, but if you could give it a shake you’d definitely hear a rattle.

If I had to sum up Mercs 2 at the end of this sentence I’d say “It’s alright”. It’s not brilliant, and it’s not terrible. Instead it hovers in a murky region between the two. Let’s call it Averagstakia.

The repetitive action is appealing enough to keep you playing, but you can’t shake the feeling that this is a PS3 game fighting a PS2 war.

The Eden score needs 2 more marks putting on it, but from what I've played so far thats about right for The Last Guy (perhaps a little harsh).

Europe.

And far from being 'unbelievable treatment from EA', the reason is that MS paid for it to have a timed exclusive in Europe, pretty simple actually.

Its due out on other formats (Wii and PS2 as well as PS3) in a couple of weeks.

Fifa 09 with a cracking score. I have to admit that for me, Fifa 08 finally overtook PES for the first time since Fifa RTWC 98. Looking forward to the release.

Rock Band - have it on XBox360 and it is a fantastic game - me and my wife end up with me on guitar and her on drums - madness but great fun!!!

Was it a 'world exclusive' for the Fifa review?

They'll probably just re-release the Dreamcast/XBox version, tack on gooseberry fool controls and take the good music out.

Good issue this month. The Street Fighter feature was excellent.
