Given that it's explained earlier in the thread, that's a bit of a silly comment. It's only one page (well, two if you count both sides) and the important one is being provided free to readers in PDF format. You're getting it much earlier than those who buy it in shops, too. It's a bit of a daft reason to be unhappy with your sub.

I have other reasons to be unhappy with the mag as well, but I don't want to upset Nath

You are 100% correct.

However, I am also a fanboy of Pro Evo, SmackDown, Uncharted, Resistance, old Sonics, Streets Of Rage, NHL and Madden...

... and I've never given any game in any of those series a 10.

MLB 09: The Show is just that incredible.

That is all. :D

Ha! You go for it, Buff. Bit of honesty never hurt anyone.

Well, that's not true, but I'm sure we can take it. We're never gonna fix anything if we don't know what's wrong. :)

Well, I think all of us here at GRcade really enjoy talking with guys like yourselves Nathan, and I see Ben has signed up too.
I think I'm going to be in the tiny minority, but I was reading your Killzone 2 issue and I'm not sure if it's just a) me not noticing before, or b) my changing needs and wants of a magazine but sometimes it read like...well, one big press release.
Then again, you're a single format mag, you're all massive fans of the console, and the content available on it (and due to arrive in the future) is really snowballing, so maybe it's fine to get overexcited, and I'm just wanting to see more moaning ;)
I'm not saying I hate the mag, because I've been a subscriber since issue...5, I think (the last one Suzz got through the post, hah). I really enjoy it, but I also can't help but wonder if the impending website launch will make the mag feel somewhat redundant. I'm sure it won't, but you know what I mean, right?
This all sounds really negative and I don't mean it to be :?

I'm just a little tired of the magazine shrinking(not getting it delivered) and the lack of features.

OPM in the old days had some great features around certain games and every games score was in the magazine(which helped when buying older games). When this mag launched it seemed like the second coming for the OPM of old but since around October last year it is bordering on becoming OPM2.

OXM seems the same way these days Suzz, really, lacking in content.

It seems a little more critical of it's brand but is still in essence one big advert. I think that's just the nature of these mags.

Sad isn't it? I stopped reading OXM about a year ago due to this and at the time OPM was really good and very much like the awesome OPM of old :(

You're probably right. I suppose I better bite the bullet and accept it.
Oh by the way, are any OPM staff up for getting their butts kicked in Motorstorm? Maybe Rachel would be interested?

I do like the content, but I'm really put of with the shrinking page count. £6 for 116 pages?
Maybe Future assume that PlayStation 3 owners are rich? I never use the Blu-ray disc - it just has demos that are available on the PSN store. I know some PS3 owners don't have the internet but surely the OPM survey results reveal most PS3 owners have the internet? If this is the case then the disc is an unnecessary expense. I would happily pay £3.25-£3.99 for OPM without a disc and I bet the sales and advertising would increase as well.

The demo discs with the old OPM had things like saved games, video replays of Pro Evo, music and Yarozze games on them which justified the price even if the demos were rubbish. I would love the disc to grow this way but as it is it needs to be taken away from the mag.

Yeah, I stopped OXM ages ago, tried it last month and it was just flimsy crap.

I remember you saying OPM had got really good. Guess it was feeling more "independent"? The last one I read was better than OXM for sure (LBP release mag).

If things have changed i'd imagine there's been some direction from above to change direction.

No qualms with the content here.

I think, on a VFM basis, Play is better. Quality wise, absolutely not, but they cram in considerably more content than OPM. That's not supposed to be how it works! Take away the dodgy phone ads, & some of the filler material & you're left with about the same amount of pages as OPM. However, because they're wider, they're able to jam in the words. There is definitely more there for your £5 than what Future are, I suppose you could say "allowing" in theirs.

Nathan, you've been going through old copies of OPS2 for your '5 years ago' piece, the difference in production quality is quite obvious, is it not?

As we've been saying for the past few months, the cover disc needs a complete overhaul. Isn't Official Nintendo with free gift about £4? That means the disc is adding £2 to the cover price of OPM. £1 simply for being 'playable'. I think Future need to find out if people are actually using it. If not, it surely has to go?

Couple of things on this - and I'm absolutely not ignoring your criticism. All is fair in love and magazinedom!

While the mag is currently 116 pages, there are as many features in it as there've ever been - and we're committed to substantial page counts for the biggies regardless of the overall mag size. This issue, for instance, there's ten pages on Bioshock 2, the two-page In The Mood For regular, 12 pages on PSN24, and seven on FFXIII. Normally we'd also run a four page interview but we sucked those two spreads into Bioshock and FF because we deemed them so interesting.

As for the scores, do you mean the lack of a directory emcompassing all the old games? Because we've reviewed every European PS3 release other than G1 Jockey 2008, which was cut for space reasons at a point when it had already been out for six weeks. In an ideal world we'd love to have a directory featuring every game we've ever reviewed, but realistically you're looking at six or eight pages to do it well, thereby necessitating the removal of another feature.

Poor G1 Jockey 2008. :(

It seems odd that you'd leave that one single game unreviewed, mind. Then you could say you'd reviewed EVERY European PS3 release. Even if it's just 20 words at the end of next month's review section. Go on. Dare you.

I've been reading up on MLB: The Show and it sounds pretty amazing. And I'm not even a fan of baseball. Must...not...import...

Will MLB get a full UK release? Seeing it get a 10/10 definitely moves it onto the radar but it's hard to play more than 2 or 3 sports sims a year really due to the time they take up.

For any subscribers wondering why they haven't been emailed the missing page of this month's OPM it is here.
The producer even speaks about a Final Fantasy VII remake!
