I'm sure the cover says something about the GOTY awards being controversial, but that seems a very agreeable list, really.

Killzone 2 could be deemed to be a bit high, but that's about it. Probably the most spot on list you're going to get during this period...

We've already had that diabolical 'The 10 Most Overhyped Games' from some arse hat on the internet.

Oh, it's Tom Chick. I quite like Tom Chick, actually. I might not agree with everything he says, but a man who's not afraid to pick House of the Dead: Overkill as his second-best game of the year is alright by me.

Nowhere near as bad as this...

http://fidgit.com/archives/2009/12/the_ ... f_2009.php

Brutal Legend has to be the worst game I've played this generation.

You can't have played many games then. It's not brilliant, but worst this generation? Nopeski.

FWIW, I'd have Uncharted 2 on both my Most Overrated and Best Of... lists. It's a lovely game, no doubt, but I can't agree with all the 10/10s.

Would have put Batman and inFAMOUS above Killzone 2 and MW2.

4: Killzone 2

Significantly worse than most of the games below it in the list imo, but other than that, it's a fair top 10.

The Modern Warfare 2 marathon article is good fun.

It brought a smile to my face.

The Full 40 as voted for by readers is printed in the magazine, but most of it is unreadable (or at least it is on my copy). The font of the text clashes with the background colour & it hasn't gone through the printers properly.

Yeah, OPM's features are turning into a real highlight every month.

I liked it myself. I didn't "top 10 of the year" like it, though, as there have been so many good games in 2009.

Yeah, in fairness I'm not sure it would trouble my top ten either. But I did really like it. It's been a good year, I still baulk at people saying how rubbish it's been.

It was very far from rubbish. I suppose it was a disappointment to some because the gameplay (and the characters) didn't live up to the visuals and the hype. Rico was one of the most annoying characters of all time, and I don't buy the "on purpose" excuse. Should probably give the online another go, though, methinks. That was great, the little I played of it.

I meant the year as a whole (my post could have been worded better). But yeah, I thought it was a solid, chunky, exciting shooter let down mostly by having the most unlikable bunch of banana splits ever committed to CGI as your squadmates. I think there was a grain of truth to the 'on purpose' claims as it made his actions throughout the game make more sense, but that's no excuse to just make him an dull, irritating, vapid ringpiece.

I preferred the campaign to MW2's, but it wasn't as good as ODST's. IMHO of course.
