Oh yes, me (and certainly KKLEIN) will be following this thread with every update, the best 'Official' magazine ever published. Mainly read it between 1998 and 1999, but can't find these issues on Ebay.

Considered making a website for all these posts? Perhaps posting them on here...

Keep up the great work!

I'm interested in this. Just got hold of Issue 1 from ebay along with 25, 26 and 44. I think OPM is the best gaming magazine along with Super Play.

This sounds like a great idea.
Is anyone interested in doing a similar thing for N64 Magazine? I'd start it myself, but I'm missing the first 10 or so issues...

I'd definitely like to see more. I didn't start buying the magazine until issue 24 but it would be great to see what previous issues were like.

I have to admit I was expecting you to have uploaded scans from the magazine but this is great, though!

There's a few problems with that, Pred...

1. As you can tell from the cover scan above, my scanner is slightly smaller than the width of OPM, so each page would be cut off.
2. It would be incredibly boring to scan 100+ pages and take ages.
3. I actually kind of enjoy transferring the information to type, as I'm kind of weird like that.
4. I'm not sure what Future's stance is on scans of their magazines. Not that that would bother me though, tbh.
5. CTRL+F to find a game you're looking for. Once this is comprehensive that would be pretty cool.

Great idea this, Dangerbells.

I've got most of the Official PlayStation magazines, but I've been trying to bid for issue 1 on Ebay the last couple of months. I keep on losing out.

Probably to you!

The Resident Evil review issue is notable, as they bent the 'Official PlayStation Magazine' title on the cover - which then led to a major bollocking from Sony.

Nice thread idea. I actually dug out the very first issue I got the other day (the one with Cool Boarders 2 on the cover from I think February 98) and it just symbolised the market they were going for with the Playstation at the time - the 18-34 demographic with a bit of disposable cash who wanted the 'cool' console of the day. Looking back it was surprisingly well written for the most part.

Not that I took any notice of that seeing as I was about 11 at that point and just bought the mag for the demo disc.

Later voted by the staff as one of their worst covers of all time. The other was this:

They followed one after the other, too.

^ yeah, that is a hideous cover. Though one of the last issues featured a game called Creatures on the cover which was awful.

Issue 2 will be up over the weekend or early next week, certainly before Christmas hopefully.

Really? Haha I can see why. It was just some generic snowboarder, and looked nothing like any of the characters in the game.

I'm trying to keep my own opinions out of this, but I completely agree. 8/10 minimum.

Not at all - but do you mind spoiler boxing each issue's contents to make it neater? It's just my scroller bar has been reduced to nothing with p1's content and that alone takes a while to load. :(
