PostOld (new) controllers for old consoles
by Sagittarius » Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:18 pm

Hello there.

I was hoping to see if anyone had any experience with new controllers for old consoles. For example, trying to find a new controller for a Sega Saturn is a nightmare. Even something as modern as an Xbox 360 controller is a nightmarish quest. Obviously, finding a brand new one that has never been used that was made back in the day is near impossible, and even if you do find one, it costs a bomb. Refurbished ones are very hit and miss. Some can be decent, but most are carelessly "fixed" and "cleaned", with parts replaced and they never quite seem right. Recommendations for reputable hobbyist controller restoration websites please! Then there's third-party controllers. I've had some very bad experiences with these! Cheap, Chinese knock-offs are prevalent. Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places, and putting my trust in the wrong reviews, but such is the nature of the internet nowadays, an element of trust has gone.

Any and all recommendations for old controllers are welcome! It may not be what I'm looking for right now, but it may be what someone else needs right now, and it all helps in the long run.

Thanks!

Welcome to GRcade, Sagittarius!

Retro-Bit make a highly-regarded official replacement pad for the Sega Saturn (i.e. one that connects directly to the Saturn; not a PC pad) and it's currently available at Amazon for the decent price of £12.06.

From that product page, you'll see that Retro-Bit make replacement controllers for the Mega Drive and N64, too.

Hope this helps :toot: .
