I still have my copy of Galleon even after I sold my Xbox 1 (original). It was made by Toby Gard - creator of Lara Croft. I started it but was never able to finish it. I also have Jade Empire and The Knights of the Old Republic. It will be good if Microsoft add achievements to these games like Sony did with PS2 games on PS4.

KOTOR and KOTOR II will run on even the most modest of laptops. Don't delay; play today! :toot:

Oh god, I loved Galleon! Yeah, would happily revisit that.

Is this for any Xbox One, or just for the One X? Couldn't seem to find clarity.

Phil said something about games playing better across the Xbox One family, so I doubt that playing really old games will be limited to the most powerful console - that would be the kind of PR shitstorm that MS have tried to get away from since 2013.

I've still got all of my Xbox games and so the thought of played enhanced versions of them on the XBO is tempting.

Having said that, in my new "cutting back" regime I could just setup my Xbox console and play 'em on that.

Just a shame that the old Xbox Live has shut down

When I do finally pick up an XB1 at some point I've got a handful of original XB games that I'd hope would work. Got the digital copies of Burnout 3 and Black when I had my 360, so hopefully that'll carry over if those games work.

I wonder if this will be like the 360 BC with them running a virtual machine that runs the games or if it'll be the emulator used on the 360.. as in, they'll use the 360 backwards compatibility to run the emulator they made to run the original xbox games on 360.. I'd assume the latter would be less work as it'd just be like running any other 360 games on the Xbox One but I'd think the games would run better if the did it from scratch using a custom VM or emulator made for Xbox One.

If they go down the route of using the emulator from the 360 days, I guess we'd get the same games that worked on that (baring any games that now have licensing issues) but stuff like Black, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Evil Dead games, Buffy, KOTOR 1 & 2, Jade Empire and Burnout 3 would be nice - not to mention of course, Shenmue 2, Gun Valkyrie, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta.. so much Sega goodness to rediscover :datass: :datass:

Fuzion Frenzy is going to be BC too. So it seems they're going to drip feed them individually, as with 360 games. Not exactly the games I'd have chosen to lead the charge.

This morning I was looking for a particular pair of shoes and discovered I had a box in my wardrobe with some more Xbox OG games.

Broken Sword, Outrun 2 and Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction! I've got rid of so many games but I've kept my Xbox games for a reason.

Anyway, here's the trailer for Mercenaries 2 with the great song Oh no you didn't! For some reason I always associate this with Christmas, maybe thats when it was being marketed.

Haven't seen anything about how game saves will be handled. As there was no cloud to upload OG saves I guess the save is locked to the original system unless you can copy across via USB. And will OG back comp games on X1 also work on the 360 - seems logical they should be.

While nothing has been announced, I would assume it is a no to both of those questions.

Original Xbox didn't have USB, did it?

The controller ports were USB-like but they had a weird shroud around them to stop you connecting any old USB device to them. It is possible to wire things up and make USB stuff work with it but theres no standard USB connection, so any saves on your OG Xbox will be staying there unless you break out a soldering iron.

Ah yeah, that sounds familiar. MS certainly won't be promoting that as a solution.

The saves are very unlikely. I don't see how it's possible technically, but I don't think anyone is really going to bemoan losing saves of that age. The second part of your question is a yes though, was confirmed by Albert Penello at E3.
