So this just came out :shifty: Who's getting? PS4, Xbone & PC, it's digital only and is budget priced, btw.

It's getting good reviews and is apparently just more of the same with a few less jump scares & INCREDIBLE atmosphere. Which is damn fine by me because I loved the first one, even as one-note as it was. Scared the gooseberry fool outta me and didn't outstay its welcome.

I just played about an hour of it there and it's already scaring the strawberry float outta me. :fp: The atmosphere is second to none. Pretty stunning graphics too for a small budget game.

One thing that's already pissing me off (as it did in the first game) is how quickly your camcorder batteries drain. What strawberry floating camcorder battery on earth only last about 5 minutes? I had a camcorder 10 years ago and the battery last 4 hours or something. strawberry float sake.

This came out of nowhere. I'll grab it when it's slightly cheaper.

Looks great. I will wait though as it's heading towards the summer months, and I don't stay in much then. Plus, you need to have dark, cold, gloomy nights to play these type of games. It all adds to the atmosphere!

Hate games like this. No chance of defending yourself, youve just got to run and hide.

No thanls.

I too don't see the appeal, the first game's entire gameplay loop was "run down corridor, run into enemy that was not telegraphed, die, repeat but now knowing where to avoid". It wasn't so much a game as an exercise in learning which direction to run in by process of elimination (the lack of interactivity/mechanics due to the player character not being able to attack etc. kind of meant the game could be little else).

The finale was especially bad (I only played a couple of segments myself and the finale was one of them), it just involved running down 3 or so corridors and pressing a button at the end of each one.

I think my problem was that I didn't buy into or become invested in the plot/atmosphere at all. I didn't give it much chance, sure, but the game also didn't give me much chance - it repeatedly broke immersion as the game's jankiness kept breaking through, be it with bad (and easily abusable) AI (there is ghost that pathfinds up some stairs rather than just flying around), tired environmental storytelling mechanics ("read this note!" collectibles etc.), or the token physics.

I think horror games need to be more than cliched settings and overabundant jump scares - although I'm not much of a genre fan to begin with.

I never played the original but don't you have to sneak around, avoiding whoever is stalking you?

From all I played and saw being played, yes you can sneak around trying to avoid whoever is stalking you, but this equates to running down corridors to hit the next checkpoint. Taking your time and sneaking was basically just the inefficient method.

I just can't play games like these. I like to watch other people play them, though, so this will be good for a few lengthy YT playthrough vids. Better get the coffee on!

This game is both enjoyable and frustrating in equal measure. I'm about an hour from the end I'd say and I gotta agree with the 6/10 average it's been getting. (I've heard it's got an awful ending, too). It can be really good when it wants to be; the flashback sections in the catholic school are fantastic. Genuine Silent Hill vibes there, it's so strawberry floating creepy exploring an empty school at night and the graphics in those parts are legit amazing. The overall sound design is exemplary as well.

On the opposite end of the scale you have without a doubt THE worst stealth sections in any game I've ever played. And there are so strawberry floating many of them. I have no idea what they were thinking with this gooseberry fool. It's so bad. It's all trial & error. You try to find the correct path, die, repeat again & again until you do it the exact way the developers wanted. You do that for every stealth section of the game. It stops being scary and just becomes annoying. The enemy AI either has eagle-eye vision or are missing their brain altogether depending on the scenario. The whole thing is so inconsistent.

Angry Joe didn't like it much. And yes, the ending is supposed to be dog gooseberry fool.
