Telling your team they are gooseberry fool increases your chances of winning tenfold. Didn't you know? Running in on your own and getting killed helps too.

Calling out enemies and communicating with your team doesn't help at all.

I had a terrible losing streak in competitive last night made up for by a brilliant comeback in my last match. Got absolutely stomped in defence on King's Row, barely managed to equalize on attack then had only a minute to snag more points in round 3. Somehow we moved the payload across the entire map on overtime and stopped them from doing the same in round 4 when they had 5 minutes. 8-)

Okay 11 Boxes, no Halloween skins.... if I had paid £7.99 For this garbage I would be livid
Totals for Halloween
3 Purple (one was currency as well)
16 Blue
25 White
4 Halloween Victory poses, which are garbage (and some voicelines, sprays, and player icon)

Oh 12th Box and got a skin... still shockingly bad luck for me (not a legendary though)
4 Purple
17 Blue
27 White

The worst part about these events are the people in comp who refuse to switch off a character they've got an event skin for.

Yes yes, that Junkenstein skin is lovely, but I really don't think he's going to be much help attacking Anubis.

I agree.

I wish they sold all of the premium skins as dlc

and had Ana and Sombra as DLC

And the new map as DLC

And every event brawl as DLC

instead of just having skins as DLC.

God, if I could just buy a £40 season pass I'd be a happy man.

You know what I'd prefer though? Is if the game had a season pass AND loot boxes. That's why I think Battlefield 1 is so great.

 Why do you get so strawberry floating mad every time someone criticises the lootbox system? It's not infallible, by any stretch. You're so impossible to have a conversation with about it.

Yes, it is better than selling map packs, and perk packs, and additional characters and weapons at a premium, but that isn't the only alternative.

There is no reason why Blizzard couldn't make the in game currency purchasable, so people can pick and choose the cosmetic items they actually want, rather than having to take part in chucking money into the bottomless pit of RNG boxes. This still only allows people to purchase non-gameplay affecting cosmetic items, and doesn't require people to pay extra for characters and maps. There is no reason why this wouldn't be a better system.

Because no one complains about any number of the much worse DLC systems in any other game thread, and compared to them this is nothing.

And people keep bringing it up over and over and over and over again. And I'd prefer to talk about the actual game. Rather than complain about a system which isn't going to change and is not in the least bit intrusive.

At the end of the day, they're strawberry floating cosmetic costumes. The fact people keep getting so butt hurt about not getting what they want is just silly.

I think what annoys me most is that people complaining about it don't actually know any specifics in regards to the financials. I don't think people realise how expensive games are to develop, here's a good explanation:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... ts-usd3-5m

And

He elaborated: “For comparison, though, the core Skullgirls characters cost between $200-250k to create, and we have it on pretty good authority that is actually quite cheap, especially for the amount of animation we put into our characters. Seth Killian isn’t with Capcom any more, but if you reach out to him he should confirm that $150k (especially when you consider that 2/5 of that cost is bureaucratic) is insanely cheap.”

So imagine how much Overwatch characters cost to develop.

I certainly have complained about shitty DLC systems in other games in the past, but as this is basically the only online gaming I play nowadays, outside of Guild Wars 2, (which does allow direct purchase of in game cosmetic skins alongside shitty Black Lion chest RNG keys,) I don't bother posting in Battlefield/CoD/CSGO threads to complain about, because I don't give a gooseberry fool about those games.

Also, I couldn't give a strawberry float about the financials. This is Blizzard. They aren't going to go under and not be able to support the game any time soon. They could easily stand to lose a few quid per player who decides to purchase direct rather than chance the loot boxes and not get what they wanted for their money.

Right, but what does you complaining about the loot boxes on this site actually achieve? It just antagonises people who have no problem with them.

And sure, but that's like saying Microsoft isn't going to go under. That's not an issue, but they're not going to keep pumping money into a development team that isn't making them a profit. No matter how well the company is doing as whole.

If you don't like the system, stop playing and go play a better alternative. Oh wait, there isn't one. And there's a reason for that, it's not financially sustainable.

Heaven forbid anyone wanting to speak their minds about something. No, it is far better that everyone just "be nice" and not question anything. Hooray for cupcake facism.

Not saying that, but speaking your mind somewhere where the devs might see it would be a lot more constructive and less antagonistic.

I was talking about the DLC system and that game sells skins, characters, cards and loot boxes no?

It antagonises you. Nobody else gets so mad any time someone mentions the loot boxes.

Thankfully, I don't have to adopt a binary stance on this. I dislike aspects of the system, the forced RNG nature of it, and like others, like it only being for cosmetic items that don't split the playerbase.

So no, I'm not going to stop playing just because you think I should. For now, I'll enjoy playing it, and I'll continue to think that the loot boxes are a scummy undehanded system designed to eke as much money as possible out of players by giving them no agency in the transaction at all.

I get annoyed because it's on every bloody page  It's all people have talked about for the last 4 or so pages

People bring it up more than the actual game itself.

I just find it crazy how upset people are by it.

"Hmm maybe someone has posted a play of the game or some good advice for the halloween braw- oh nope, just more moaning about loot boxes"

Blizzard have actually responded to player feedback about lootboxes to an extent - you can purchase event skins during the event with your in-game gold now, which is a step in the right direction - and I don't think it's impossible that one day they'll enable just buying gold (albeit at a very premium price, no doubt). In that respect I don't think discussing it is completely pointless.

I was not complaining about the system, what I was doing was keeping a record so I could prove what a waste of money it would be to buy them, and £7.99 for the absolute crock of gooseberry fool I got is a total rip off. So no I will not be buying one in the hope of getting halloween skins. Still 1 skin in 15 boxes is really, really upsetting :(

I am happy other people buy them so the game will get supported. But that wont be me.

Also I seem to becoming a Bastion main, the amount of rage I generate in the opposing team as him is amazing

I don't mind discussion, but moaning about loot boxes while not posting any information that allows you to actually discuss it, or pointing to any viable alternatives or examples of games that do what you are suggesting kind of inhibits discussion quite a bit. You can;t just say "WHY DONT DEY DO DIS" without any evidence that it's financially viable.

I did try to post examples of how much games cost to develop and why blizzard are running this model but I got told "I couldn't give a strawberry float about the financials"

So please don't blame me for the lack of meaningful discussion.

And Zartan, it's completely random, I have got 2 legendary within 10 boxes before. That doesn't mean everyone will. Also, you are guaranteed at least one legendary every 20 levels (pretty much)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comm ... y_results/

The drop rate doesn't seem too bad for legendary skins honestly.

I dont mean legendarys, what I am saying is I have gotten 1 Halloween skin (not a legendary) in 15 crates, that seems a really harsh drop rate
