Mercy is my main support so I hope she's still fun to play.

Who the he'll was crying out for Junkrat to be buffed by making his mine double use instead of single use before needing to recharge?

It means you can hop into the air and throw another one rather than than wait for it to recharge.

I just started playing this again after taking a break and was reminded how good it is

The deathmatch mode is a breath of fresh air, if you get held back by a bad team you can go in there and destroy some people.
Definitely makes me feel a lot better after losing, like "Well I just won deathmatch as Torb and Zen, wasn't my fault"

Oh also, new character:

Hasn't been any Overwatch chat in a while. What do you guys think of Brigitte? The Retribution event? Anyone playing Competitive 6v6 Lock-Out Deathmatch (it's pretty fun!)? Are we all hyped for Rapid Shot Hanzo (no more Scatter!)? The Venice map is out on PTR soon as well, exciting stuff!

Brigitte is definitely one of my favourite characters. I'm super upset she isn't playable in Comp until next season. The bash + slap + whip combo is so satisfying.

Retribution is really cool IMO, would recommend it even to mostly-lapsed players. It's a PvE mode where you have to escape Venice fighting through an army of Talon omnics. The old King's Row PvE mode is back too.

Mei's pyjamas skin is the best.

Hanzo can just strawberry float off along with the banana splits who 'play' him

Brigitte is good fun and I love her hybrid playstyle. The previous PVE event was enjoyable and I like what I've played of this new mode, but I just can't get back into Overwatch right now. The toxic players really sucked the fun out of the game for me and I no longer have the patience to put up with that kind of shite in games.

99.9% of the people who play Hanzo only do it because his ultimate makes it easy to get a Play of the game.

I like the concept of Brigitte but I feel Blizzard strawberry floated up her from a balance point of view. She's got two reliable stuns on low cool-downs, one with displacement and a super strong ult which is going to make her extremely unfun to play against before you even take into account the rest of her kit. A character that counters dive compositions is sorely needed but I feel she's too strong against a good chunk of the roster in addition to making Reinhardt's miserable state into an even worse one.

Cool design though.

I can see what you're saying. She is the new 1v1 queen, and people seem to hate her for similar reasons that they hate Mei -- you have to respect her zone and if you engage her up close you will die, and obviously that can be frustrating to be on the receiving end of.

I kind of have a feeling she will turn out to be one of those 'overpowered in Quick Play, underpowered in Competitive' characters like Mei or Symmetra, because of her relatively low healing output and because killing her is so easy at range or in a 2v1. She is great at shutting down individual divers but I think she will still melt in coordinated dives.

Would be fantastic to see if I'm right or wrong on that (and I'd be very happy to be wrong, if she's really OP then it should boost my SR at least... :toot: ) but we won't know until next season for very important Jeff reasons :(

Great PTR patch! Hanzo rework, Lucio buffs, new map! Genji, Tracer, and Junkrat all tweaked to be less oppressive! Also confirmation that they're rebuilding Horizon Lunar Colony, the worst map!

Mei's a good comparison as to why I don't like Brigittes kit, as you put it brilliantly in the phrase "you have to respect her zone." Same with Mccrees flashbang, but with Brigitte they've attached these kind of abilities to a character with armour and a personal shield who can frontline easily. I'm probably just salty she's the latest thing in the game that makes main tanking a bad time. They've apparently reduced the shield bash cone size in a change they missed out of the PTR patch notes, so that's something at least. Hanzo on PTR seems real strong, I had a quick play around in the training range with him and the ability to wall-climb then dash into the air is going to lead to some really cool trick shots (For people who can aim anyway.)

Also, has anyone found there's been an increase in terms of currency drops in the boxes or is my account just an outlier? I've just broken past level 100 on PC and I've somehow got nearly 7k in credits. It feels like every purple rarity item I've got is a coin drop.

Nope, been happening to me too. I wonder if it has something to do with the tweaks they made a while back to reduce duplicate drops?

Yeah, you're more likely to get coins now.

Interesting points Sykes. Personally I do think it would be fair to tweak Brigitte so she 'loses' to Rein, the only tank that currently has no way to outplay her. But I would do it by giving Rein Orisa's Fortify as a passive when he is charging, and making charge cancellable into a swing. That would be my fantasy Rein patch tbh (as well as fixing his bugs!).

I'll step in and reply if you don't mind Knoyleo, apologies for the rudeness.

I love Reinhardt and he might be my favourite character to play as (Maybe Zarya edges him out) but I dislike the suggestion of fortifying him when he's charging because it removes the counterplay from the ability by being able to sleep him, flashbang him, etc. Charge is a very powerful ability and IMO should have risk in order to be fair and balanced.

Unfortunately I think Rein's just suffering from the fact that the majority of maps are more suitable to heroes with high mobility and Winston and co being very strong. Orisa is a better pick on a decent number of the maps where high ground is lacking too, due to her higher shield up-time and ability to provide supressive fire while protecting her team. It's a similar position to what Ana is in, where she's not bad, she's just outclassed by the other options for various reasons.

Personally I'd increase Winston's bubble cooldown by a second or two and look at nerfing Orisa slightly in some fashion too. Until then, I'll just wait until Kings Row appears so I can go hammer happy.
