After trying the heroes of the storm tutorial... why do so many people play mobas? They're so slow paced and needlessly complicated.
I thought they were easier to get into than Fighting games and that's why they were so popular in comparison, but nope.
But yeah, no way am I wasting like 3 hours of my life for a skin.

Honestly I think HoTS is the quickest. I really love it.

I've heard it is, which means other MOBAs must me far more complicated.

I guess they're so popular because they rely more on sitting at your computer learning numbers/stats than anything else. Which is very accessible even if it is incredibly time consuming.

Any idea if anywhere is doing this cheap? I've fancied it for a while.

It goes on sale on PSN every so often. But it's kept it's price really well because it's sold like hot cakes.

It's well worth £40

If you don't mind waiting a few weeks, the one year anniversary is coming up and I'd imagine Blizzard will be doing a free weekend so you can try it out. Plus I think their free weekends generally come hand in hand with a sale too.

I love the Stay as a Team button at the end of a match when you've got a good group of randoms.

But I really wish there was also a "I want to be as far away from these people as possible" button as well. Three matches with a Mercy who was in a team with another person and every single match would only heal the person she was teamed with, who was always Soldier 76. Even then only rarely, using the damage boost most of the time instead and leaving 76 to heal himself.

Worst 'I'm a diamond player' post ever, etc., but I'm sometimes tempted to intentionally drop down a rank because diamond is full of some of the biggest crybabies I've ever known in an online multiplayer. I had one French guy last night literally gurgling with anger down the mic. It's full of wanabee e-sports pros with huge superiority complexes rigidly sticking to whatever has been decided is the 'correct' meta/team comp. In one game, some guy was getting so much grief because he picked Sombra which was the 'wrong' choice and proceded to be our best player. Never fails to amaze me what little faith people want to put in others if they don't pick the established characters - I just assume that if they're in diamond then they probably know what they're doing.

But then the games are of a much, much higher standard and the amount of teamwork and grouping up is fantastic. You just have to put up with the thousands of players who all think they should be in the top 500.

Picking Sombra is wrong because it's not Mei.

I recently ranked up to Platinum and was amazed at the step-up in saltiness. People back in mid Gold were generally pretty quiet, now all I get is manbabies screaming bloody murder down their mics because someone used their ultimate when they weren't 'supposed' to (or whatever).

I'm basically resigned to being in silver forever and its juat as bad if not worse; its full of tryhard babies who are also gooseberry fool themselves. I just can't be doing with that bullshit and being yelled at by some petulant fuckshit for not playing 100% peak optimal performance/exactly how they want me to, something which happens more and more in quick play too. I may well be done with Overwatch tbh.

If I didn't find listening to manbaby meltdowns funny I would probably just disable in-game communications to be honest. You can turn mic off for sure, and I think you can turn the chat box off too. That way you only get voice/messages from people you're actually grouped with.

I agree though, Overwatch is a fun game that is sometimes ruined by a vocal minority of its community being insufferable human saltmines.

I think living with an actual child has had the unexpected side effect of seriously curbing my competitiveness (and capability of dealing with it) in videogames. Its quite shocking to hear an actual grownup man shouting and screaming like a child at other men for not doing the videogame correctly.

I just play it with this detached ambivalence and it makes everything so much nicer. I wont pretend Im immune to the pressures of wanting to win, but its no way the most important thing. As soon as the screaming baby becomes more annoying than funny he goes on mute and I continue my life doing whatever the strawberry float I want.

If we were on highly paid teams together and I wasnt pulling my weight, then fair enough I suppose, but mate - you are in the same competitive tier as me. You are literally no better or worse. We are one and the same. Treading water side by side in the river of runny poo.

I got shouted at in Quick Play for "speed boosting too much" as Lucio and the guy had a proper fit when I suggested I was just playing in a way I fun. "How can you have fun being so gooseberry fool?!" It was very funny but also made me feel a bit anxious (I mean having another grown man shouting at me) so I can sympathise with why that kind of behaviour ruins the game for people.

(The irony is he wasn't even right, pro Lucio players spend 80%+ of the game in Speed Aura.)

I think because Im a bellend it doesnt bother me, I just wind them up even more to see how irate I can get them. I accept that not everyone can have as much as fun arguing as I can though.

It's easy to notice angry people in online games. But consider how many people you play with a night, and how many of them are angry/abusive.

For me it's probably 1/200 if not less. Yeah it sucks, but if they can't be reasoned with just mute them ans stay blissfully ignorant.

This attitude and the attitude of many who played The Division of "If the content is so hard 95% quit then just get good and stop whinging" that makes some games just no fun to play. Yes, I realise some people like a challenge and that's fine but most people don't game to try to get into the global top 5% and shock horror just want to play a game and not be yelled at or expected to have the skills of a Ninja at all times.

The last time I tried competitive I only won 1 of my 10 placement matches so I gave up as clearly the entire mode was just faulty.
