As someone who plays a lot of Winston, very little makes me happier in this game than seeing an opposing team full of squishy 200HP characters. He's not so effective in the diamond league where teams are more coordinated, but in quick play, you can be a real pain in the arse - especially as people don't seem to counterpick very much.

Yeah Winston is good at holding down objectives and taking them back with Primal Rage.

Had a good session with Hanzo last night as well - couldn't get used to him before but I was just holding back and being careful and got a decent kill spree going. His radar arrow is useful and gets you some nice passive exp when used right.

Such a good game.

Well i guess i'm taking a break from this after my first snap-alt f4 ragequit from getting reamed two maps in a row by shitlords spamming 'ez' and the like over and over. I'm at the point where competitive mode actually gives me a better experience as i'm paired with the other silver-tier morons rather than the higher levels on quick play just because i've been playing (badly) for a long time.

I love this game.

But I hate this game.

But I love it.

Also, anyone else struggling with who to buy a golden weapon for? I'm thinking it might be worth holding onto the points if the next hero is as cool as rumoured.

Truth. Competitive has left me tatters, from going on a 8 win streak to falling short of platinum at the final hurdle.

I hate you but I love you Overwatch.

I got so lucky yesterday.

Was playing competitive and did a good job with Mei on Hanamura so these dutch guys invited me to play with them. Such a refreshing experience actually being able to tell people that they can rush the point because you've killed 3 people. Showed me how your competitive rank is more about who you are playing with than how good you are. We lost a few times but it was fun because they outplayed us and our team was actually trying and communicating.

I love this game, I just hate how 50% of players play it like a death match game rather than an objective game. I quite often get gold objective time as a healer which is just absurd.

Perfect example from yesterday. I play reaper on attack on Numbani, running away from a reaper and ana on defence. They literally both chased me halfway to the next payload checkpoint (when we were still trying to cap the first point) just to kill me, and then our team captured the point immediately after because they were both off chasing me and not defending.

Then I played another match afterwards on the Egyptian map where the whole enemy team was defending outside the front walls of the second zone. And we had a Genji on our team, but instead of trying and capture the point (forcing them to retreat) he decided to just try and kill people outside the front. I was using Winston and ended up capturing two thirds of the point on my own just by jumping over the wall.

Have you considered playing Mystery Heroes? It's probably the friendliest and least salty game mode, and it's hard to feel bad about losing because ultimately it all plays out based on an RNG anyway.

I'm often surprised by people who are lacking in terms of game sense when playing this. I'm not particularly brilliant in any specific facet of this, (My aim is probably mediocre most of the time) but actually taking the time to think about why you're doing stuff or who you should pick seems to have helped me evolve into a passable player.

I wonder if it's the same on PC, given what I assume is a stronger focus on the lone wolf style that console has had for various reasons over the past decade or so.

Game sense means a lot more than aiming skill in this game, I'd agree.

Also, I am posting this as a WebM because I'm really proud of it :toot:

Straight out of nowhere, new Overwatch hero!

Image

Orisa serves as the central anchor of her team, and defends her teammates from the frontline with a protective barrier. She can attack from long range, fortify her own defenses, launch graviton charges to slow and move enemies, and deploy a Supercharger to boost the damage output of multiple allies at once.

Dig her.

Pretty cool hero. I'm trying to connect to the PTR now to test her out, but it's overloaded :slol:
