On PC he's good for defense if played well and, he's actually very good on attack when used correctly too.

Yes. Ive been in games where we've won on attack due to torbs armor/turret. Its like Sym and her Teleport on attack is sick.

He is good on payload or zone control maps, you just need to know where to set up your turret. Bad Torbs usually just set it up out in the open, it needs to be some where that controls space but isn't easily visible to the enemy.

He is bad on assault point maps, unless you can somehow flank and set up your turret while your team goes in.

I use him all the time on Nepal for example. Set it up on the stairs in front of the shrine so only the very top of it is visible.

You need to be with a good team though otherwise your turret will just get focused down

EDIT: Sym can be really gooseberry fool on open maps though, Torb has a much better weapon. In fact I genuinely thing Torb is better all around.

His ult can single handedly save games.

At the moment I couldn't pick torb over symmatra. Her turrets don't have to be babysat and the moving barrier is useful at breaking up fights. Not convinced the teleporter is that good but could make the difference when used right I guess.

You don't need to babysit his turret if you position it well. It should be in a position that can fire on the enemy while they are distracted by your team.
For example on hollywood you should put it on the stairs behind the bushes at the back of the level or half on the stairs, half poking out of the doorway that leads onto the point.
On Kings row you should put it on the steps behind the little room with the 75 health pack.
On Cairo I usually put it the back left of the point (from the defenders point of view, next to the big balcony) as it defends the point and is hard to take out.

There's no point babysitting her turrets because they die to anything. They're useless if the team has any splash damage heroes or tanks.
Symmetra relies on the enemy team being unaware of your presence, or just bad at the game.

People underestimate how much damage Torb can put out, and how much he can tank by armouring himself during combat. Not to mention the insane damage and tanking his ult gives him.

He is harder to use, but it's worth practising with him.

Torb and Sym are decent heroes who have their uses, but, the idea of using them on attack isn't the best use of their talents IMO. Torbs Armour Packs and Sym's Ults along with the turrets lend themselves better to a war of attrition which generally is more suited to 2CP maps or the first point of hybrid maps. When the big team fights happen as the payload moves along or on KOTH, their kit is less useful.

Had a really good game with Zarya last night someone who I had underused previously.

Had a Mercy buffing me; got the up time for barriers spot on; great use of her ult; got up to a 10 plus spree

She's unstoppable one on one when fully powered up. Had a dva trying to shield the beam lol just lol

Seems to be really underused on quick game as well. Great character would use again.

Zarya's a top-tier hero.

Some great changes coming to PTR. Zen will be able to discord through barriers, and Winston's shield cooldown & Sombra's teleport cooldown are both being reduced. Plus an Ana nerf which will hopefully make the game a bit more dynamic (impossible-to-kill tanks in Competitive on PC were no fun to be honest). Orisa is shaping up to be a super fun hero too. Season 4 got off to a rocky start with Bastion but I think it's gonna be a good one.

I swore off online shooters due to ageing twitch reflexes and increasing frustration levels. I saw this for £12.99 today in local shop so bought in solely with the intent of trading on at small profit. Just looking at some reviews and thinking it may just be something I may get along with. I know it's been out for a while so just wondering if it's something I can get involved with now or is everybody maxed out bastards now who will kill me within seconds of spawning??

There are people playing of all skill levels so you'll get matched with people of a similar skill level to your own, in both ranked ('competitive') and unranked ('quick play').

The heroes in this game are pretty diverse, so if twitching with e.g. a sniper rifle isn't your thing, there are other damage dealers who are more about tracking with e.g. a machine gun or leading projectiles with e.g. a rocket launcher. There are also tank heroes who require no aim whatsoever, and are more about good positioning; and likewise there are support heroes (basically healers) where it's more about dodging and allocating your healing resources effectively. There are even heroes who build turrets to shoot for you.

Can you play without a mic? Get the feeling communication and teamwork is all important.

A mic is only essential if you want to compete in the upper echelons of the ranked mode.

Basic calls like "My ultimate ability is almost ready!", "I need healing!", or "Group up with me!" are made through an in-game communication wheel. I'm exactly average at the game - my rank is more-or-less literally the median rank across all players - and I've never used my mic.

Typical that I would only learn about being able to idle for xp as Blizzard decide they're going to crack down on people doing so. :x

You don't need a mic, so long as you can hear other people.

Drives me nuts when I play and nobody else is in voice chat.

I tend to mute people who talk too much :slol: but the occasional 'Pharah above' or whatever is helpful for sure.

Cheers for the comments. Will give this a go sometime over the Summer when the 16.5GB update has downloaded and installed. :)

So what does everyone thing od Orisa?

I think she's really good. I don't like playing Reinhart so I'm glad there is now an alternative shield generator.

She's exactly the kind of character I like to play, that half DPS, half support kinda role.

Actually a bit disappointed. She isn't really bringing anything new to the table for me, disappointed now in both her and Sombra.

At this point, I'm really all for more maps mainly. Saying that, I think they can bring something new to the table with Doomfist but we shall see.
