And I think I'm done with the game after finally beating the second tower at level 32ish.it was a grind to get even there and beating the towers are a bit of an anticlimax.

Very cool mashup of pokemon with a survival game, I think after a while the survival genre just isn't for me. I live the beginning treadmill but after a while I see through the illusion in these games. Taking nothing away from a great accomplishment from the devs though!

Would check back in after a few updates for sure, I just the the grind isn't quite for me now. I did love traversing around via canceling the grappling hook mid-grapple and pulling out my Hangyu glider to keep the momentum and rocketing about the world.

I've seen irrefutable proof that the game was made with AI, stole Pokémon models, and stole fan designs. I've also seen that same "irrefutable" proof disproven. The discourse around this game has given us like a month's worth in 4 days and it's frankly impossible to keep up with it and filter out what's true, what is just people stirring the pot, etc.

The way I see it is Nintendo have a team of lawyers on standby and took down the Pokémon mod in the span of hours. They're not unaware of this, and so if they don't go after it, I see no reason to.

Just Pokémon fans that are annoyed about Palworld’s success. I love a survival sim, the UI and hoe you unlock things is a carbon copu of ARK but the world is gorgeous and I love my Pal’s running about in my base doing things.

Very addictive to pop on a podcast and while away the hours.

Regarding this, Nintendo have commented on what is obviously this game.

As such my stance remains "If Nintendo looks into it and brings it forward with evidence then that's that. If Nintendo themselves don't feel they have a case then that's also that."

There are too many people that think they know and understand more than they do and I've been through enough drama stuff that resolved into being literally nothing that getting stuck in without the final outcome is pointless.

The issue is there's a lot of very clearly "very closely" inspired designs, many of which seem to take points of various pokemon and mash them together.

It's not Pokemon fans that are annoyed by this and:

This specifically isn't true given the Digimon franchise exists.

"The dev's are getting death threats."


This is sadly true, but people saying bad things about Palworld are also getting death threats so it's just an awful situation all around.

Survival isn't my genre, but I unironically think it's super cool that a small team ripped off Pokemon, were smart enough to get away with it, and became one of the biggest games in the world overnight. Real David and Goliath stuff. Good for them!

The Digimon games didn't sell that much recently but as a franchise it's way bigger than 8m users overall. It's a huge multimedia franchise.

The development process sounds nuts too. Hiring modding enthusiasts off twitter when they hit programming roadblocks. It's amazing that it came together into a finished product.

I knew it was their first time developing a complex game but I hadn't heard it was that fraught! :lol: That's pretty incredible.

Honestly, it doesn't feel at all like that which in itself remarkable. I hear the dungeons are poor but apparently they are among some things being finished for the 1.0 release which I reckon is possibly at least a year away.

The wonder of finding new 'pals' to catch is why this is SO different to other survival sims, and the opening area at least looks stunning, draw distance is VERY impressive even for the pals themselves. They do need to knock the resolution on Xbox Series X down a tad as it's full 4K and hovers around the 45fps mark, a 1440p/60 would be better.
