PostPanettone time is here again!!!!!!!!!!
by Peter Crisp » Thu Oct 13, 2022 4:38 pm

I just bought my first panettone of the year  .

Every year I try to taste test as many expensive panettone's from as many shops as I can to find a winner.
Last year M&S got the top spot but who will win this year  .

So, please feel free to show how much you love panettone and I expect this to be a contender for topic of the year.

Panettone sounds like a brand of shampoo.

I too had an M&S one last year, and it was excellent. But sod off eating them before Christmas Eve. We used to get them as gifts from the bosses at work, but they used the pandemic as some weird justification for not doing that any more.

EDIT: All the "special" varieties, with chocolate etc, can get in the bin.

I'll have saved up almost £200 on my nectar card by next month so I will get one for Christmas, but Sainsbury's don't tend to be as adventurous as other (more expensive) supermarkets. The last few year's they've just stuck Prosecco in it. Tends to be around £8 if I recall.

The Lidl Deluxe Panettone Classico is good. Will probably be about 4 quid this year.

My favourite is cherry but it's around £15-£20 so that's not happening. Don't like the chocolate chip versions at all.

I'll bet.

It's excellent toasted, which I guess you're aware of.

And it never goes off. We forgot about some which we had half eaten, and found the remainder of it 6 months later (knotted plastic bag in cake tin). It still sported all its magnificent blandness.
Great with a layer of butter and jam.

Katarzynki was always our favoured cake based product at Christmas, but you try finding it these days.
