Thanks for the info.

Indeed not getting penalised for not spending all your money after a measly portion of standard living costs are paid is something I don't hold out much hope for. I carry over a balance of quids per month if not a deficit at the moment and it'll be the water company or some other human-rights-enshrined utility asking why you don't have a "rainy day" fund for these things. It's because you're literally not allowed to not spend all of it.

They should be fine with it. I think you can still exchange paper £5 notes if you're with that bank.
