Unless I am missing something, this is the lowest key currency expiration I've ever known.

When the old 'round pounds' were retired, it was everywhere. I've seen nothing on the news about the £10 notes.

With the £10 notes, if you haven't got rid of them by the end of tomorrow, you have to post them to the Bank of England, or deliver them there yourself, to exchange them for new plastic ones.

Is it just me that has missed this until the last week or so? Or have I misunderstood what is happening?

Have you all got rid of your old paper 'tenners'?

Feel free to mock if it is just living under a rock that has given me a false impression of its profile.

I'd guess that people are much more likely to hold onto coins in piggy banks or whatever than they are notes, and I'd guess that paper notes go out of circulation a lot quicker than coins too.

I haven’t seen any of the paper £10 for months.

Cash doesn’t stay in my wallet long enough for me to fall foul of this.

I do fear finding a stowaway tenner in an old coat pocket and not being able to do that little "woohoo" jig that you do when finding surprise money that past you left for future you to find :(

You still can, it just means you have to get the Bank of England to change it for you.

Smart arse.

I haven't got any of the old tenners left now anyways, so it'll only affect me if i suddenly end up being given one in my change.

I had a surprising £160 worth of them in my wallet, mainly due to me rarely using physical cash these days.

One of my partner's clients paid for their coaching session last week all with old tenners. Thanks a bunch!

All you have to do is drive to London. We all know that you are not bothered by the price of petrol.

I had £1000 in a plastic jar in old tenners , I sorted the last one out a few days ago... I have seen banks with signs up saying take them to the bank once there out of service so I don't imagine your going to have to go to london, I imagine regular banks will just take them and do all the rubbish for you.

Its mostly cash from various things I've ordered off Amazon for family members using my prime account , as in i order stuff then they pay me back for it - inevitably the money just accumulates because I do 95% of my shopping online.

Ironhide’s Dad: “gooseberry fool, what can I do with this old £10 note?”

Ironhide’s Mum: “Give it to Ironhide, that little gooseberry fool deserves it for not liking hot cross buns.”

I found a stash of them at home the other day so took them to the bank and paid them in. There does seem to have been less noise made about the £10 notes expiring than when the £5 notes did, for some reason. It'll be the £20s next I guess.
