As you've seen, the game looks beautiful. It starts a bit slowly but I'm enjoying exploring Port Prisma. My favourite part of the gameplay is the combat which has the classic turn-based Paper Mario interface with action cards that can be painted to mix up your encounters. I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can uncover when I play it next.

I'm excited :toot:

C'mon, Drag - spill the beans! How'd you get the game so early? You don't have an American machine, do you?

It was briefly available on Friday in America as the preload files weren't encrypted. Someone dumped the data and uploaded it so I used some Wii U hacks to run it on my machine :shifty: I'll be keeping my pre-order as I just did this to play it as soon as possible.

It looks incredible  I'd love to play more tonight but I don't think that I'll have time before or after Mario Kart :( I'm excited to tomorrow night :toot:

My copy arrived today :toot: I'll be continuing with the one that's already on my Wii U as I want to see more of the game instead of replaying the seven or so hours that I've already played. I'm excited to get stuck into this again at the weekend :toot:

By the way, that logo is fantastic :toot:

I've decided that this will be the perfect Christmas present - from me to err me! Looks like charming, funny, not too demanding gaming - perfect for the festive break.

Think I might do this to. Give me time to get through some other things before Christmas to.

Can you actually switch which enemy to hit in this, or is it always the first in the line? Couldn't seem to find a way to do it.

I think that it always hits the first enemy in the line. When you get to play to cards, it seems that the first card hits the first enemy and the second card hits the next one. The exception to this is when the card targets multiple enemies, like triple hammers or triple jumps, in which case the attack starts with the first enemy in the line.

Started playing this tonight, it does start quite slow and I'm not overly keen on the battle system so far. Is it worth fighting every enemy encounter or should I just be saving my cards and fleeing every battle?

I got to the third area (cherry something) and ended up running out of cards but couldn't seem to find a way to leave the area to go buy more. Is this not possible then?

It's not worth battling every enemy in the same way it was in previous Paper Mario games, because there is no XP (or Star Points). Something it took me a while to realise (because I was saving my coins), is to use battle spin each time (it costs 10 coins). I never had a problem with a lack of cash, and by using battle spin you can get a card each turn.

Until you get a paint star for the area, the only way you can leave is by going back to the start of the area and exiting via the entrance. Once you've got a a paint star, you can just press start to exit straight away.

Ordered this today, noticed the price seemed to be starting to creep slightly upwards and conscious of them probably not having made huge amounts of this. Not sure when I'll get round to starting it but quite looking forward to it, I never really got into Super Paper Mario on Wii but the first two Paper Mario games are amongst my favourites. I know the battle system in this isn't similar but from what I've seen it seems to replicate the humour of the originals more closely than Super Paper Mario ever managed to do.

Do you unlock he battle spin early on? I've seen it mentioned but I've not actually seen it used yet.

In terms of completing each area 100%, is that something worth doing? I thought I read somewhere that sometimes an enemy will appear at a previous area and suck more paint out again so you have to go back and do it all again?

I think it must be pretty early, because I don't remember being without the option.

Getting 100 per cent paint in the areas isn't vital (it just unlocks some concept art and music later on in the game). Don't worry too much about the Shy Bandit, he can be defeated pretty easily, which restores the paint he has stolen – it's just a bit of a pain when he appears because it is something else to deal with.

Same. Bought the game because I knew it would be rare.

I think that's the best thing to do with Wii U games at the moment, I've just picked up this and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, not particularly because I'm expecting to play them in the near immediate future but because I don't want to find that in 3 months time I have to pay double the price for them. I already ended up paying more than I saw them for around a month ago and those were by far the cheapest prices I could find them at.
