Which park? Are we going to have a GRCADE Parkrun meet up?

Off to Paris this weekend, so will be having ago at one of the local Parkruns, pretty small crowds (around 30) at some of them.

I found Bournemouth pretty boring to be honest. If you haven’t done Poole that was better

Bournemouth cancelled due to travelers on site. Going to do Upton House Park instead as that has lower numbers. Number 50 tomorrow :toot:

I was suppose to be there three weeks ago but had the gooseberry fools so had to bail out :fp:

My misses sister lives close so I’ll get another chance. Let me know what its like.

Big fan of Upton House Parkrun.
£1 to park.
You run a small lap, big lap then another small lap.
There is a bit of a hill before you start the last small lap and the finish/end of first small lap has an incline.
Course is off-road so generally stoney paths.
Lovely location in and out amongst trees and nature.
The start is a bit busy that's the only negative for me but the paths are nice and wide.

I finished 56th in 22:23 on my watch (awaiting the official time) which was a steady run as I have a 20 mile race next Sunday :datass:

I made it over to Alexandra parkrun this morning. Glad to get under 25min. My Strava was wavy on the straight close to the houses, so i thought i was faster than i was - extra 300m. Clear day today. 2 more for 50 different venues - Sutton Farm around The Dream is on the list, but not sure where to go after that.

Are you working out from nearest to your house or do you make a day of it and pick locations that look interesting?

Working out from nearest from house. Im pushing a bit too far over an hour by car travel time now, and done almost all of them. So yeah - I'll probably start picking interesting locations and making a trip of it.

edit: this is the map from the parkrun app of the "local" runs ive done

I don't have to many where I live but it seems if your in London you have lots of choice.

I'm going to work towards 20 unique locations. I'm currently on 7. I'm going to Wales in October so will do one a long way from home and I'm going to start working through the list of nearest not done yet on the challenge app.

Did St Mary’s today, new parkrun and 5k PB of 21:07.

Even stayed around to help out scanning after.

I signed up for one before covid happened. Downside is that it's timing is so so so so unhelpful. I'd either have to get the wife and kid up early to go or walk for about 4 miles to get to the start point to the run the walk home, which doesn't sound like much fun :D

My closest parkrun is about 2 miles away, then the next about 4 miles. The one i started off is about 8 miles. I drove to all of them. A few times ive ran there, do the parkrun and run back again for the two closest ones - but i think generally transport (/time) to parkruns is always going to be a bit counter intuitive.

Volunteered this week as was expecting to run a 10k this weekend. Was funnel manager (with 2 other people), thought I'd be a bit redundant but managed to stop a couple of people walking off so I guess that's a win!

Does anyone know if there's a list (or know of any) new park runs starting? Would like to get off the ground with the Wilson Index.

Also I volunteered to barcode scan on Saturday, my phone couldn't scan a thing. Massively frustrating and what a useless app.

Ran Brandon Country Park Parkrun yesterday. Course measured short at 2.99m but it was through a forest.

The terrain was varied with sand, stone, root's etc so made it hard on the legs.

Did it on 21:11 on a cooler day and easier course I reckon I could have done sub 20 as my legs felt fresh.

Improved my PB at Exeter the week after and broke 21 minutes with a 5k time of 20:55. The issue was the course was laid out incorrectly and was 5.5km which meant my 5k time didn't count.
