Plus that future still had Enterprise-D around, and that ended up being destroyed not long after.

Data was in the All Good Things future but died in Nemesis.

Didn't he leave a back-up of his memories in B4 just before he died?
In theory they could just upgrade B4 so he becomes Data again.

That's what they did in the Countdown comic which is probably closer to canon than other media, given that it was the backstory to Star Trek 2009 and had involvement from the people behind the film. In that he was promoted to Captain of the Enterprise-E after Picard became the Federation Ambassador to Vulcan.

That's kinda funny. I ended up going down the rabbit hole of the twitter feed and at first instance it looks like they have self-radicalised themselves with hate for the DM, getting angry at any comment that doesn't align with their world view... but are they really a right leaning ex-DM staffer who despises the predictability of their hard left followers and is exploiting their readiness to publicise their noble world view?

I'm not a Trekkie but I do have a fondness for TNG, Patrick Stewart made it into something special so I'm really looking forward to this. This will be Picard in his twilight years so I hope it's not too slow and ruminating like Better Call Saul is compared to Breaking Bad. I'd like there to be action, a growing problem, help is needed, then in the final episode of the season the Next Generation crew appear! Or at least one of them

It's been well over a decade since I last watched TNG, tempted to watch through it all again before the new series arrives.

I think they should have some cameos of the TNG cast on this. It would be nice, but I don't think this show should be TNG again.

I have always liked the idea of a Star Trek show that has different stories/characters each episode. What I mean by that is, have episodes exploring each race and what they get up to, and tie it into a larger story (like a conflict in the Alpha Quadrant). Picard could be the common thread of the show, as a diplomat or something.

I basically want DS9 style gooseberry fool.

Just so long as it isn't Seasons 1-3 DS9.

They definitely need to resolve the Data story on screen. The end of Nemesis was criminal for such a great character and his relationship with Picard was one of the best parts of TNG.

Would love to see Riker commanding the Titan or maybe promoted to Enterprise captain too. Would be good to see the Enterprise E one last time.

Also, I'd like to see them address the point Kirk made to Picard about not letting Starfleet take away command of the Enterprise. It would be good to see Picard as an aging captain, with a completely replaced crew dealing with the changing galaxy and corruption in Starfleet.

It is great too, honestly if this now starts with anything other than Picard on his Vineyard then I am going to be gutted.

Honestly I had not realised All Good things was 24 years ago and that it put Picard 25 years into the future. I mean they have lined that up perfectly (though I should have probably read the thread when it first appeard  :fp: )

Star Trek's Picard series 'won't look or feel anything like Discovery'
Apologies to fans of blue hues.

If you're afraid of this new series jumping on Discovery's critically acclaimed bandwagon, then don't worry. The people behind the show told Digital Spy and other press at New York Comic Con that it's going to be completely its own thing.

"We pick up Picard 20 years after (The Next Generation)," said executive producer Alex Kurtzman.

Fellow exec Heather Kadin added: "The Picard show shouldn't feel anything like Discovery. It's not going to look like Discovery, it's not going to have the same values.

"We want every show to feel unique so that you're not just signing up for an experience and you get the same one every time."

Although critically acclaimed, some fans aren't so enamoured with Discovery's glossiness, blue-hued colour scheme and focus on action that almost went into JJ Abrams territory.

A crossover has already been ruled out, while Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi back in the day, said that the rest of the Next Generation cast have not been asked to appear in the new series.
